Saturday Ride
Still doing my 50 K route along the river stopping at the Historic Rideau canal before turning around to head home. Thats when I met Richard he asks me how I'm doing and that he is fine in French (this is about my total amount of understanding of French I have held onto since school) I answer back in English this starts it off. He looks at me and asks if I want to switch legs with him, at this point he has his artificial leg twisted 90 degrees so it's pointing in the air and waving it like around, I hadn't noticed that he was an amputee. We got to talking about Ottawa the pathway system and where we usually bike. Since he's retired he bikes about 50km a day and that he's lost about 50lbs in the past year, then he tells me that back in 2004 he biked across states with Amputees across America. This was very inspirational. After about a half an hour chatting we went our separate ways home. I'm hoping to cross paths with him again.

Wow. That is incredible. I couldn't imagine riding all the way across America (Well. I could if I didn't have a job). To do it without legs...well...is outstanding.
