Ride 27 – Miss Bumble and Big Scott go for a Ride
The Atlanta Clyde/Athena get together was a blast! Ok so it was just the two of us – but it was so much fun to actually meet someone form the forum and to ride with a Racer. Many many thanks to Scott for riding with me tonight and sharing some of his knowledge on cycling with me. We started out on what Scott said was a flat ride. Now – one thing I am learning is when people call a ride flat – that is subjective. To me we went on a 3 Gap ride! Ok so they were a few small hills. Actually Scott helped me up the hardest part of the hills…but I was really quite proud of myself for drafting Scott on some parts of the flats and then getting up the hills! I am here to report that Scott is a gentleman and a fine cyclist! Thank you for the advice and ride! (Miles 23.74 Riding Time 1:37:43 Avg 14.53)
Some of the things I will go practice:
(1) Ride at a steady slower pace with my heart rate in the fat burning zone for a long ride. (Will buy a Heart rate and Cadence monitor). This will help my goal of improving my speed and efficiency as well as help with the weight loss.
(2) Relax on the bike – pedal in an easier gear – smother and quicker. Shoulders down, bent elbow.

Mega Clyde
Sounds like a good time. Congrats. Maybe you could post your route via Bikely or MapMyRide so we can see what a flat (or 3 Gap ) ride looks like. I am sure my definition of a flat ride is different than others as well.
