Bikes, Bikes and More Bikes
Wow what a crazy weekend of beautiful bikes. The National Criterium Championship came to my little town outside Chicago (Downers Grove Illinois). I appoligize up front for a lack of pictures, but what a great 2 days of watching races and seeing some just beautiful bikes. The Pro races are crazy fast and a crazy good time. I also have to add that the teams that were riding around town to warm up while I did my morning ride were really cool giving thumbs up and tipping their helmets to other riders, no eliteism from any I ran into. Also hats off to the couple clydes I saw in the category and age races, I would be happy to just complete a race.

Whoops, forgot to add the wrecks looks scary painful and one elite guy had skills hitting a chuck hole cracking his steering tube and not wrecking just parking it.

It's great that the teams were cool. I think the fact one can be a top level pro on the national scene in N America and live in relative anonymity probably helps keep them somewhat grounded and less guarded.
Wouldn't it be nice to crack a steering tube on your uber $$$ carbon fiber bike and be able to shrug it off and tell your manager, "I need my back up bike."
