Illinois Great Rivers Ride

Well I just got back today from a 7 day bike tour of southern IL. It was my 1st tour and I will say it was alot of fun. I rode more miles than I have ever done, 388 for the week. I had a 70 + day followed by a 65 + day. My butt was definately ready to get off the bike yesterday. The tour was well organized, the trails were all well marked,(all blacktop roads) and the food was great. The other riders on the tour told me that I had picked the best tour to do because of all the amenities. We had a riverboat ride, we got to see a Lincoln inpersonater and many other fun things. If you want to try a bike tour next year check out the website next summer. The ride is in Sept. and it's a different route every year.

You came within three blocks of my house. I live in Anna, just down from the High School (you may have remembered the hill between Anna and Jonesboro. Kinda hilly around here, ain't it?

Glad you had a good time.

I do remember the hill between Anna and Jonesboro, but remember I live in S.W. PA. so I was ready for the hills. I saw several people walking they're bikes up some of the hills, but my mission was to ride up every hill and every mile of the ride, which I did. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised with the beauty of Southern Illinois. I especially enjoyed the scenery along the Mississippi River. You could feel the history of Huck & Tom and the river boats from days gone bye. Really enjoyed the little museum in Grand Tower.

I may have some pictures to post, I just need the time to load them into my computer and upload to the site. As you can expect I'm busy catching up at work and home.
