Cyclocross! Cyclocross! Cyclocross!

Just had our first team "practice" of the season last night. First race is Sunday.

I'm stoked.

All my off-road touring this summer on the Kona Jake paid off. I can really get cranking on the dirt with that thing now. I no longer question why I'm not doing these races on my mountain bike.

If you guys haven't tried it, or any form of racing, find your local CX series and give it a try. There's nothing quite like it...

I think I'm going to try and start an unofficial clyde category. Entry fee: a six pack of your favorite beverage, winner takes all. The skinnies can buy their way in with enough weight in beverages to get them over 200...

I would like to try, but don't have a cross bike and don't have the funds to attempt to build one either.Good luck Askel and have fun like you always do.

You don't need anything special... Any bike will work. Something that can run ~35Cish tires is best, but more or less just makes you faster on different parts of the course.

I almost stayed on the lead lap through the whole race on Sunday...

I only have my one road bike, the other is for relaxing rides with my wife and my short ride to work every day. That road bike isn't going to be the cyclocross bike, so I would have to find something else.

I'd show up with the Explorer. Race that, and people would be cheering like mad up here. Or at least I'd be. But then you'd have to run the "Eh" category with the really fast guys so I could cheer for you after I run "Bee" class.

Or come up here with the Explorer and I'll race that, you can take the Jake.

I wish I lived closer, I think you would probably push me into something like this. If I did a cyclocross event with the Explorer, I would be laughed out of the place. A comfort bike for cyclocross (HA HA HA HA HA). I could see people laying on the ground rolling over laughing so hard.

a guy named Chris Tuma (youtube) always talked about cyclocross and tried to get me into it. I may have to give it a shot. He moved out to Las Vegas now but i think its still going on. Rock in ROLL on the beers! hahah
