Need advice on in door trainer
With Fall in full effect....I don't have daylight to ride after work. I really need to get some miles in during the week if I am going to be able to do 100 mile in the Tour de Cure on March 1st in Venice, Fl. Any good trainers for under $200 or maybe even in the $150 range? Let me know what you guys think.

I would say go with a good set of rollers, rather than a trainer. Post a notice on your local craigslist and you will find rollers for under $100.00. I had found three when I posted last fall in less than 4 hours.

Thanks....just posted a notice on my local craigslist. I am a lil scared of the rollers. It looks like I would fall down riding on those.

With looking at everything he had sitting in the garage, that could have been a LOT worse.
When you get the rollers, set them up in a doorway that is narrow. It will make it easier on you in the beginning. Good luck and you will get better at it.

+1 to rollers, I wish I would have known about them before I got my trainer.

I have a $50.00 set from Craigslist with the larger rollers. I talked to the guy I bought them from. He spent $200.00 on them and used them for a while, but also tried others that his friends owned. He said the brand didn't make any difference to him. He liked the larger diameter roller, which is what he bought. I don't know the difference on any of them. You can go all out and get the one that has the forward and backward movement also. But that is a LOT of money.

+1 for rollers. I have a set of Elite PVC rollers and a set of Kreitlers that I modified to work like E-Motion rollers.
Stationary trainers are boring, but rollers allow you to balance and they are more like riding on the road, especially the E-Motion type of rollers.
Here's a video of the E-Motion rollers ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4bm-...eature=related
Here's another with some explanation... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaYDZ-RSOTA&NR=1

I have the Giant Automatic Resistance trainer. This is my first experience with trainers and I am wondering if they are all this noisy? It seems to start out very loud and change as the resistance changes but I also notice changes to the noise levels that have no correlation to speed or changes in resistance. I am to the point I actually thought about taking it to the shop and asking them to make sure there is nothing wrong. I have slicks on so its not tread vibrations, but it feels similar to that.
So are they supposed to be so loud?
Thanks for any help.

I got several responses from my wanted post on Craigslist....The best on I think is a guy that has a set of CycleOps model# 9500 rollers for $75.
"I have a CycleOps model# 9500 rollers with very little use, I purchased them from the original owner about 6 months ago, she never learned to ride on them, I used them about 4 times, they work great. I paid $100 for the rollers, if your interested I would sell them for $75"
What do you guys think? I think these might be a good deal. They retail for $199. Please let me know what you guys think.

They look good enough to try for $75.00, and if you don't like them, put them on craigslist and sell them for $75.00.
