Saturday Ride, Nuttin' Special

Cool for us Cali riders, in the fifties. Really shocked that the riders had thinned out so much with the cold. Not many out, guess most are fair weather riders. Well, got in our 51 miles for the day. Cold and breezy but nice to be out!

Sad Beanz, nobody here to photograph!

Gina had a hard time today with the headwind

Experimenting to see how low I could go with the camera. Like JBoyd suggested, I shot some video from this angle. Cool but 'puters to slow and takes too long to load for the forums! I need a new 'puter!

Coach Vireo, one of the SoCal BF'ers. He was out testing a client on a timetrial. You can see my shadow with the camera!

Asked to to smile for the camera and an action shot!

hey beanz

You looking for sympathy? Well you aren't getting any from me! You ride all year round, in nice warm weather with great views and with the lovely Gina and you get to drop skinnies. Sounds pretty sweet.

I like the regular beanz. You know, the one that leaps tall buildings and saves the world from lex luther! I suggest you go rescue a cat from a tree or something to add a little spice to the beanz.

Hey Mr. B - Sound slike a nice ride - ooh I forgot about the wind..Yup we had it too. All the riding seems hard to me - so wind, no wind.... it's all just a nice challenge! and fun. So Gina sticks poor Charlie Brown in her saddle? Also send that Coach over to the Bee - I do think if I had a coach I'd be superwoman.

Clear down to 50 degrees! It was 6 degrees when I got up, and up to 9 degrees right now. I think I'll just read about your ride! lol

My wife and I rode Saturday morning early. It was below 40 when we left the house and didn't see another cyclist the entire ride. On Sunday afternoon, I couldn't pull my wife away from Christmas cards (yes, they are really late!) so I took a solo ride down PCH. Mid-50s and breezy but only saw a half dozen cyclists.

I feel like such a wimp. It was 54 and windy Saturday. I decided I needed to wait for it warm up a bit. I am so ashamed.

I'm all for non testosterone-laced casual riding, but there is a time to HTFU... you do not know how well off you are! And I say that in the friendliest sort of way!

I ride year round. But, now most, if not all of my riding is on the rollers. -6 degrees this morning with a gentle breeze. The roads have at least 1/4" of solid ice and no warm temps in the future.

Amen. Here's the view outside today...

19 deg and deep icy slush everywhere. I did not ride, as I have yet to change out my Primo Comet slicks for anything knobbier. I think I am being cheap, I should at least get some quasi-offroad tires. Xmas and a week beyond is forecast to be 40F and up so the roads should clear up by next Monday.

HTFU? I had to look that one up.
But strangely enough, I agree, I need to HTFU.

But.... I am not yet addicted to cycling. I like it. It's fun, and I want to keep doing it. I don't commute to work, or store or anything else. It's just a fun new hobby I'm trying to take up. Anything that makes it "exercise" or "work" or anything that makes it "un-fun" will make me not want to do it. Right now, 50deg and windy was enough to chase me off a ride. Next time, it probably won't as I learn to "man-up" or as you say, HTFU.
