Accountablility time - How did you do on youe 2008 Goals?

Here is the thread where it all started for many of us:

http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...717&highlight=

I had what I would call mixed results:

Here is what I wrote then:
So here are my goals:

1) Loose 40 pounds (gets me under 190).
2) Ride 2,000 miles - this is huge for me as I've never gotten over 750 in a year for various reasons
3) Ride 3 centuries

So how did I do:

1) At this point I have a net loss of 5 pounds from a year ago (228 on 1.1.08 and 223 today). At one point I was down 25 lbs so this year my focus is sustaining that kind of success. So on my wight loss goal I didn't pull it off. But I'm ok with chalking that up to a need for better and sustained effort next year.

2) I road 2085 miles this year so I met my milage goal. However, I haven't been on my bike since October. So again, I need to do something about sustaining my efforts especially if I want to hit my goal of 3000 for 2009 (gulp!).

3) I road 2 unsupported metrics and 1 organized Century ride. So I didn't get my 3 full century rides in either. I learned this year that planning more than 2 big deal events for myself is difficult to manage with the requirements that my personal and professional life require. So it is what it is and if I can sustain my efforts over the full 12 months I think I can get pretty close to hitting the 3 centuries next year. Still I did downgrade this goal for next year to two full centuries. If I get three in that will be a bonus.

SO I was 1 for 3 on my goals, how about you?

From the 2008 thread:

- Century-a-month
- 4000 miles for the year
- Double century (S-t-P in the Fall)

I did not finish a century per month. I was actually 3 short of 12 for the year. Crummy weather, family medical issues, and low motivation were the factors. Trying again in 2009.

I did not finish 4000 miles for the year, but I was only 112 miles short. Had we not been dumped on with 28" of snow over the past 2 weeks I would have hit 4000. I may have actually hit it, but I don't have a computer on my fixed gear, so I have no idea what my indoor mileage has been the past 2 weeks. Trying again in 2009.

I did ride the STP double with a rolling time of 13h 33m and a total time of 14h 45m. Shooting for a 400k brevet in 2009.

I was a listless goalless slacker in 2008. My only objective was to ride my bike and lose some weight.

I did both of those and realize it's time to get more serious.

I started a thread for mine, the nonscale victory thread........:D

Last year, I didn't make any goals. Probably because I've always been so bad at meeting them though I've tried to pick realistic ones.

I did this year though and all but one is tied to cycling in some fashion.

Looking back over the year my objectives are seasonal, with more biking in the first half and surfing in the middle. Things got off to a good start, hit a speed bump, got back on track somewhat, then fell off a cliff in September:

BIKING to improve fitness for surfing:
Jan through July: 100%
July through September: 60%
September through December: 5%

SURFING
March - May: 25% of objective
June - September 90% of objective
October - December 5% of objective

After a major health scare preparing for a triathlon in April, and an issue with breathing and medication/heat humidity in summer, my cycling trailed off.

My busy work period -- September through December: was a big fat 0% -- working all hours, getting sick, eating too much again, too much time at the office and not going to the gym and putting the weight back on -- a disaster, so that's got to turn around.
