Htfu?....not!
Has the End of Days come upon us? It's 25 degrees with a North wind blowing a steady 15 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. The low tonight is going to be around 24.
I guess I'll just have to hold off until tomorrow and Saturday when it's going to be in the 60's again.
Stay tuned for the Saturday Tx attempts a Metric report

I want to see some single digits already wheeeeeeeeee.
Where you heading for your metric? I might head up to Denton on Saturday to help someone cable their new trike but next weekend I'm may be doing another long ride to boost my miles.

I rode to work yesterday when it was 18F. Didn't need the balaclava yet and was actually a little over-dressed. 25F sounds warm.

The lightweight balaclava was mostly for the windchill since I'm sooooo fast
I know I have softened up alot since moving down here to TX. I probably would run crying home if I really saw a snow drift and 7degrees on the thermometer. Of course back when I was riding in a new england winter I'd never think it possible to ride at near 110 degree heat cooking out in the sun for a 200k but that is just what I was doing in August in TX and some folks were saying it wasn't that hot

I lived in New England on two different occasions totaling about 5 1/2 years. I still don't know how I survived.
I'll take a survival ride in 110 degrees where you suffer from store to store to refill liquids any day.

See you have to be born there I think.. My Mom often tells people I wouldn't stop crying in the winter when I was a baby unless they put me on the front porch often in the snow.
The more I say that the more I think they were just trying to get rid of me

It was a nice balmy 9 degrees earlier but has since warmed to a blistering 11 degrees here, I think my bike is frozen to the front porch.

Yesterday was 58 here in Miami with steady 15mph wind, I was honestly cold while riding. The combination kicked my butt, i usually feel great after 45 miles, today i feel beat up.

Genetics have failed me
It's a balmy -9F here. I'm not in the mood for a century in that weather.

So is my Mastiff. The good news is when I go to bed here in a bit, she will hop up and snuggle in close. She's pretty warm, and big. She hogs the bed though.

Not safe for work
Feels like -20 celsius with the windchill. I was outside yesterday and glad I wore layers of warmies. It wasn't too bad at first, but after 20 minutes I was afraid my nose would freeze and headed back inside. I'm looking forward to the -4 celsius this Sunday -- which is ridiculous, but better than -20.
I asked my best friend this morning if the weather would improve if we made a human sacrifice. She thought about it for moment, suggested a couple of her co-workers as good sacrifices, but then said it probably wouldn't help and we'd get in lots of trouble.
Oh well. I was just trying to help.

I work deep nights in a lab at a chemical facility. We have several guys who have to spend a fair amount of time outside. I think I'll keep plenty of hot chocalate, coffee, and some tea bags in good supply tonight.
EV, sorry to hear that it looks like you have lost some fellow employees lately. We started not replacing people who left through natural attrition very early on in 2008. So far it's proving to have been a very smart move and we have no indications of work force reductions in sight for the moment.

I saw some guy riding yesterday. Let's see. Lots of wind, check. Snow falling, check. Below zero wind chill, check. Unplowed roads, check. As I drove past, I resisted the urge to roll down the window and yell, "ON YOUR LEFT!" Of course, since my car doesn't heat up, the urge wasn't very strong. I also thought that if I startled him, it would cause him to wipe out on the nasty roads.

-26C (-15F) this morning. My sons rides 12 km to work - he says he is a lot more comfortable on his bike than in the delivery truck.

5 degrees this morning. I would consider riding on lunch, MAYBE, but honestly this is about 20 degrees below my official "no go" temperature. Plus, the ice is everywhere right now, and even if I can talk myself into the temperature, I cannot and will not risk my health on ice.
