New Bike

Yesterday I couldn't even spell roadie, now I R one!

Been reading/relying a lot on this forum the last seven months since taking up biking for fun and excercize. ( at the age of 51.) Started with a spontaneous purchase of a comfort style bike, soon bought a nice older fixed frame mountain bike off of Craigslist, and just got home from another Craigslist purchase.

Not positive but I think it is a 2007 model of a Trek 1000. I have been watching both ebay and craigslist since last fall and was not watching for a particular brand, but something that fit and something priced right for my first road bike.

It came with Shimano clipless pedals and shoes that fit. It is obvious that both the bike and shoes are brand new and I believe the guys wife I bought it from who told me he only ever took it on one ride and it has been in their basement ever since.

So, I am pretty happy. I took it strait from their house for what turned out to be a short "adjustment" ride. The weather has had me inside since before Christmas coupled with the fact I am still trying to get over a stomach virus and I pooped out pretty fast.

The clipless pedals, especially considering no instruction at all, came to me pretty fast. I am sure I will like them a lot. I also know it is a matter of time before I get to join "Club Tombo" (sp?) but not today.

Here is a couple of pics.

Welcome, "Roadie"

Yaeh, those clip-less pedals are spiffy little 'muthas' arent they??!!

Enjoy your new bike and be careful.

Yeah NICE bike! I had a Trek 1200, basically the same bike. I loved the fit but after acquiring new roadies, a friend talked me into letting him buy it. He payed me well for it but now that I think about it, never should have sold it!

Replace and upgrade components as needed. You'll never need another bike!

I've got a 2005 in my garage myself. Been riding more of my vintage stuff lately, but the Trek 1000 served me well.
