Lost one pound Now 196 Lbs
I must be in love.

Missbumble 02-16-09 07:47 AM

Hey Guys - So last week was a bit dicey - lots of meals out, but all in all I did not do too badly. This week I hope to go on the offense... and eat at Subway a few times - and cut back on the alcohol..at least until the weekend when my date (whatever you call him) is visiting me at my consulting gig in Chicago...so I hope to lay off the wine/eating out until then.

Also rode 50 miles yesterday! woo hoo!

Goals / Actions
(1) Drink more water (ooh go grab a glass now!)
(2) All healthy salads for lunch this week - not nibbling on food brought into class
(3) Subway for dinner Tues - Friday
(4)Tues - Friday workout at gym. 40 minutes to one hour bike. Even if short on time - do something...Just go to the gym (It's in my apt complex!)
(5) lose 1 pound.
(sat/Sun) workout once with aforementioned date in the gym

TechKnowGN 02-16-09 08:08 AM

I did a half marathon yesterday, so I expect to be up a lb or two today as my muscles hold onto water, but by thursday I expect to be down at least 3 lbs.

davin1023 02-16-09 08:24 AM

My goals for this week are to lose at least one pound, ride 4 days (assuming I get my bike fixed), and to try to eat healthier than last week.

Missbumble 02-16-09 08:35 AM

Hey guys - please be sure and post on the current week thread

JonnyHK 02-16-09 08:37 AM

Started at 100kg/220lb - goal 90kg/200lb

This week 95.7kg/211.5lb

Not too bad considering I thought I had blown it out this weekend. No long ride due to working on weekend.

rthomse 02-16-09 06:13 PM

Same as I was last week 262.4 .I'm going to be extra watchful this week of food intake and water!

youcoming 02-16-09 07:45 PM

Having some real bad times. Shoulder pain is killing me, can't go to gym it's so bad, basement leaking water, $9000 repair bill not insured for foundation. I tend to eat to much in times like these an was surprised to find I gained nothing but lost the same. Good thing I spent a lot of time on the bike.

ArtO 02-16-09 09:43 PM

Still no riding allowed. Did a good amount of walking around. My scale has gone to "scale heaven" so I'm not sure on weight this week. I'm going to switch and do weight checking at Publix from now on.

I'll log last week as no change and goals for this week === lose .5 lbs.

Vibes 02-16-09 09:49 PM

I just finished week 19 of my Daily Plate diet and I'm down 2 pounds for week 19 to 226.8, after having gained .4 pounds in a weird prior week. I didn't change anything this week just kept eating and exercising to achieve my calorie goal each day. I've lost 29 pounds by calorie counting so far since October 6th.

Neil_B 02-17-09 11:07 AM

I'll post here although I take a dim view of competitive weight loss, simply because I don't know where else I should put this sad news. I'm up quite a bit since my low of 242 back in July 2007. I weighed in at 291 last night, my highest weight in nearly three years. I was about 245 when I rode my century in September 2007, and about 260 when I rode my tour in August 2008. I'm not pleased.

Obviously, I need to, as Ira Gershwin put it, "do do do what I done done done before." I'm back on Fitday. Now how much weight can I drop for my June tour from Pittsburgh to DC? I have less than five months. :(

evblazer 02-17-09 11:44 AM

I didn't know there were prizes :D
I think of this more as accountable getting fit group or some such. The TV show by the same name well that is a whole different thing.

Starting off the week at 247 this morning (I didn't show up to the place with a scale on monday). Still up a bit from my low but I'm feeling ok.
Put in just under 240 miles on the bike last week mostly commuting. Hope to keep that number up this week.
Gotta get nutrition down. I'm doing a reportedly tough hilly 400k on March 7th (248+ miles for the non-rando US folks). Furthest ride to date is under 150 miles. I'd do a 300k first but there isn't one till september and I want to see if I have a shot at doing the 600k in late April.

You sound surprised by your weight gain. That being said, are your clothes getting tight, or fitting the same, or looser? I've been following some of your threads regarding your exercising and riding, and I'm wondering if you've lost some fat and increased muscle.

I shouldn't be surprised. But I have a large capacity for self-denial. I should have realized that maintaining is as hard, if not harder, than losing.

I've definitely gained weight. My shirts are getting tighter, and in a couple of cases are no longer wearable. It's visible in my face as well. While my hill-climbing ability has stayed more or less the same, I have less upper body muscle than I did. Also my endurance when riding hasn't suffered much, despite my time off the bike. (I had problems on my recent 30 and 23 mile rides, but that was stupidity on my part.)

The cyclist is the inverse to the common black bear. The bear spends the summer eating, and puts on about 25% additional body weight, she then spends the winter sleeping, gradually using up the stored weight to come out in the spring at their lowest weight. The cyclist spends the summer riding, and loses about 25% body weight, they then spend the winter sleeping and eating stupidly, and put on the extra weight, swearing up and down that the next year they will NOT gain so much as a milligram, only to repeat the cycle yet again.

The way to break the cycle is to find a winter exercise that you can do, one of the best calorie burners is snow shoeing, although there is still that gap when there is too much snow for the bicycle, but not enough for the snow shoes...:notamused:

Down to 286, despite not making any radical changes in my eating. That comes today, when I cut 500 calories or so from my daily intake.

lubers 02-23-09 08:59 AM

Still holding at 269, weather is really not helping we had eight inches of snow again over the weekend

davin1023 02-23-09 09:02 AM

Down .8 pounds. Not what I wanted for this week, but it has been a bad week all around so at least I'm down and not up.

Missbumble 02-23-09 10:22 AM
