Is your "significant other" an Athena or Clydesdale?

I thought that I would just throw this out there, but I was wondering if your "significant other" was an Athena or Clydesdale. I just thought it might be interesting to see if most of us were involved with Athena/ Clydesdale types, or one of the smaller ones. Even if your are single, what kind of person are you attracted to.( You can vote for as many options as you want. Have fun with this !!!!

StephenH 02-23-09 10:31 PM

Answer is "yes", but it's not an "I like them big" deal, so none of your choices fit.

Mr. Beanz 02-23-09 11:25 PM

I like short women/Athenas. Thick and short. Like a smaller waist and some "BAM!" to go with it! I'd have to say I'm pretty happy with mine! pushing the height limit at 5'4 but there's enough "BAM!" to make me forget about it!:thumb:

And whatever acticity I choose, she better be willing to play hard cause I don't like no weak sissy!;)

My wife was a borderline Athena, but then she started getting serious about running and the weight came off. She started getting all skinny and hotter. I thought, "Ohh sh*t." She is getting better looking and I am getting fatter. I decided I had to keep up or I'd be in trouble ;)

aenlaasu 02-23-09 11:38 PM

Yes, my hubby is a Clyde. Of course, he's one of those guys that even at his ideal weight looks stocky. One of those guys with a truly broad bone structure. We've gained weight together though I was already fighting Athena-ism when we married.

He wasn't a Clyde when I married him.

lubers 02-23-09 11:54 PM

My wife weighs only ten pounds more than when we got married which was 35 years ago. She comes in at a whopping 138 lbs. I'm not saying what I weighed but I have gained over 110 pounds since then.

txvintage 02-24-09 12:58 AM

I didn't answer the the poll because there isn't a choice for me.

My wife weighs about 125 and is 5'6" tall. I weighed much much less when we met and eventually got married. I gained my weight after I made a hobby of reconstructive orthopedic surgery.

vXhanz 02-24-09 05:57 AM

My wife's 5'2" and about 115lbs. I was a Clyde when I married her and have gained more weight as we have been married. She's only gained weight two times, once with our first pregnancy and our son... now with our second pregnancy and our ??? we'll find out in April :)

Yes, but we both hope to be for not a lot longer.

:)

S.o.

Oh Boy..Not touching this one.
This -if my susan ever saw it-would start the never ending exchange of words..a no win situation.
Moving on now....

Hill-Pumper 02-24-09 07:34 AM

Granted, the poll is kind of silly, but it was not meant to be scientific. It is no more serious then people posting pictures of themselves shirtless. For the record, the poll does not exactly fit me either. My wife is Athena, and will never be anything less. She is 5'7" and has wide shoulders. The least she has ever weighed since we have been married is 165lbs and looked stunning. Even though tend to like the skinny ones, I always seem to end up with the plump one.

youcoming 02-24-09 07:44 AM

I like mine skinny. When wife and I started dating she was 98lbs. She is now an athena but I love her more today.

Pamestique 02-24-09 08:15 AM

I can't vote - my SO is a Clyde but neither of us likes that we are big. I think we would both prefer to be thinner... but I am not superficial - it's not about just being thin. I would much rather have a big boy if he is sweet and can make me laugh! Thin is the last thing on my list.

bautieri 02-24-09 08:18 AM

Due to a lack of choices I choose my bicycle as my ideal signicant other. It doesn't talk back nor does it want to buy more furniture, all she asks is to be ridden (take that how you will). In this sense she is ideal if not bearing a slight resemblence to a bag of antlers. Look officer, all I'm saying is that she shouldn't have had such a tiny seat pack. She was asking for it going outside like that.

I see you and I have the same "hobby" :)... broke the collarbone and had 2 subsequent reconstructions, broke the wrist, had to have reconstruction, wrecked my knee, yes reconstruction. Add a serious head injury and then =sigh= cancer surgery... I've more off the bike in the last 6 years than on. It sucks!

evblazer 02-24-09 08:39 AM

When the wife and I first dated we were both around the same weight at around ~115.. I was 6'2" she was 5'2".. I upped my weight 2 1/2 times or more she might have upped her weight 2 1/2 pounds.

Similar surgical situation with my fiancee. 2 years in a wheelchair and over a dozen surgeries in the past 10 years. Kinda puts a damper on your exercise routine.

CACycling 02-24-09 01:53 PM

At 5' 9" 135 (and concerned about her weight) my wife has only been close to Athena status during her 2 pregnancies. On the other hand, I doubt I'll ever loose my Clyde status but plan to keep trying.

Wogster 02-24-09 06:00 PM

There are a couple of options missing:

Like my situation, my significant other is an Athena, who wants to do something about it..... Can't seem to get her to go very far on the bike though....

OK,now I have to ask, is it due to discomfort on the bike?

cyclokitty 02-24-09 07:35 PM

My husband isn't a clydesdale. He likes Athenas but I've date both clydes and non-clydes during my single years. I was always first attracted physically to beautiful eyes and smiles. My eyes travelled south later. But if he didn't have a sense of humour, forget it!

Fantasminha 02-24-09 07:43 PM

I voted "I like them skinny" even though my husband was a Clyde and I was thin when we got married. Today he's thin and I'm overweight. Aah well, easy come........ not so easy go.

That's what I thought for my S.O., so she has owned three different bikes (Trek 730 Multitrack, pecialized Dolce( her idea as it was purple), and a Raleigh cadent? comfort). The only one to make the cut was the comfort bike. The trouble is the "big comfy seat". She won't ride very often or long, and thinks my Brooks saddles are medieval torture devices. She, however lover the idea of spending time with me on bikes, just not so much in practice. So, we have compromised on short jaunts around the neighborhood.
