Snow Day

So who else is "working from home" cuz it snowed last night? ~6-8 inches in my DC burb.

Thinking about putting the knobbys on the MTB and going for a spin before the plow the neighborhood.

We didn't get snow last night, but we did wake up to temps in the single digits. It's currently 18 degrees where I live, so I don't think I will be going out today. If it's warmer tomorrow, I will go out. Since the snow is gone, I'd like to hit at least 100 miles this month.

I did (am.) I have a verrrry steep, but short driveway I needed to shovel out. I've lived here for 13 years, and finally wised up and got a set of these:

What was I thinking??

Seems like about two feet here on Delmarva! Wasn't it like in the 70's this time last year? Looks like Norway here...without the mountains of course :-).

I stayed home but didn't get much work done -- except for shoveling my driveway. I just got off the trainer. I did the Spinervals 30 minute time trial workout that came with the Kurt Kinetic. Coach Troy kicked my arse!!!

New it wasn't going to be fun

Hi,
had the stomach flu all weekend, finally started to feel better today, not real hungry.
so I had to go to work , so my car was frozen doors all stuck shut 28 now and they predict 19 deg tonight, and its supposed to be near 70 saturday, so I bumped the door with my shoulder and it opend.
After starting my car seemed to be acting a little off wipers slowed down when the engine idled and the fan was slowing down, So I called work and said I need to have my battery checked .
and sure enough it has a dead cell, my last battery I bought in 2003 cost 56.00 bucks tha same battery today was 86.00...
So I called work and said I am on my way. at 14 15 already 15 mins late.
SO I didn't ride today cause of black ice and tomorrow more of the same. Maybe weds???

I would have given up at doors all frozen shut, and called in sick.....

For those in places like Southern Florida and California who don't know cold, here is a handy chart: It's Canadian so it's in degrees C, I added on degrees F for convenience....

20℃/68℉ - room temperature
10℃/50℉ - cool
0℃/32℉ - cold
-10℃/14℉ - very cold
-20℃/-4℉ - extremely cold
-30℃/-22℉ - cold as Hell
-40℃/-40℉ - F'ing cold
-50℃/-58℉ - absolute zero, all outdoor activity stops.

Right now it's -13℃ but feels like -24C, it's supposed to go down to -18℃ and feel like -29C over night, it got up to a high of -10℃ (that's a high? come on, this is March) a full 11 degrees below normal..... Thinks are looking up though, supposed to be +6℃ by Friday..... Still too cold for outdoor riding, but getting close.....

The roads are clearing pretty nicely in the neighborhood. Looks like I may be able to ride tomorrow.

I did have a nice workout this afternoon shovelling snow. My wife commented that, unlike the last time we had a significant snowfall (which was about 1 BC - 1 year Before Cycling), I did not come in the house covered in sweat and feeling light headed afterwords.

I just said, "Screw it!" and did this instead:

...then, I came home and shoveled snow and cleared the snow off my truck.

Very cool. I'm jealous. My night ride is mostly on the MUP in Bowie, I bet it's pretty much still covered tomorrow night. I think I'll go get the knobbies out of the basement.
