Specialized Nimbus 26x1.5 in the rear, Primo Comet Kevlar 20x1.5 in the front, both at max psi (er, 80 and 100, I think). Great traction in wet conditions and no flats (yet). Someday I'll replace them with some Schwalbe Kojaks...but I have to wear 'em out first.

Either 700X28 Continental Gatorskins or 700X32 Specialized Infinity Armidillo. The Armidillo are tougher, I've never had a flat with them, but they ride hard and can be slick on wet pavement. The Gatorskins ride a little better, are faster and seem to be better on wet pavement, but I've had one flat with them.

I tend to use Gatorskins on fun rides but like the Armidillo's for commuting.

If the roads were still good I'd be using Rivendell Ruffy Tuffy 27c. The new Conti 28c with Vectran might replace it. I love the Ruffy Tuffy's.

I am using Panaracer Pasela TG 32c Folding. They are almost as light as the Ruffy Tuffys, but tougher and better for crappy roads.

Tire choice depends a lot on you, on the quality of the roads, your willingess to spend absurd sums for a bicycle tire, and what sort of riding you do.

One tire I am considering is the Marathon Supreme.

Currently, Armadillos 700x25 - I ran Gatorskins for a long time and I feel it was a better riding tire but I had a frustrating rash of flats and made the change.

Two bikes with the same tires, Vittorria Randonneur Cross 700 x 32c. I wasn't brand-specific when I bought them, just wanted something that would fit both bikes (ease of maintenance on the road & less bike parts inventory at home), was puncture resistant, and was inexpensive. So far they've worked great.

Nashbar 700 x 23c or a different cheap 23c.

I have ridden on expensive and the cheap Nashbar and couldn't feel a difference where I ride, so I went cheaper and they have lasted as long as the more expensive ones.

It has been my experience that they are relatively fast and light (210g) yet durable.
Also, they are fairly inexpensive.

I put Conti GP4000 Black Chili Compound tires on Gina's bike after a few recs. I figured the smooth ride recs would compliment her carbon roadie. $60 a tire but they wear better on her bike than under my fat arse!

Me, I find any POS tire laying around and slap it onto my bike. Many times they are Gina's worn tires since I only use them to put miles on my bike. At my weight, I don't feel any one tire is smoother than another. As long as it rolls, I can use it!

700X28 Continental Gatorskins

700X28 Continental Gatorskins,
so far the best compromise between robustness and smooth rolling performance.
