Thought I was going to get away with it.
Well, I have been pretty good in my clipless pedals until yesterday.
I was riding along with my sister in law who has decided to start riding her bike in the afternoon. I let her get ahead of me so I could see what her pace was. I looked down one second and she was stopped. I tried really hard to get out quickly but it was like 1 second. I threw the brakes on and struggled and then toppled over. LOL. She screamed if I was okay. I got out of the pedals and was more shocked than hurt. Got me a good ole road rash on my knee. |
Welcome to the club! :p It happens to virtually everyone. ;)

Bummer about the fall, I hope it heals up quickly. The good news is that you lost a half ounce, it's just too bad that you left it on the pavement.

Come back in two weeks after you fall again, and injure the same area.

mmmmmn hmmmmn.... what were you really looking at huh? ;)

Not like that believe me.

It will probably happen again, too!
I hadn't done it in probably ten years, but I was riding with my wife and son, had just taken off fully expecting to have to stop right away, so I didn't clip in (or so I thought). We stopped as expected, I went to put my foot down, but even though I had not clipped in on purpose, I was definitely in and went down. No rashes, but my knee on that side did get wrenched a bit and it is mildly uncomfortable to walk (though oddly enough there is no pain when riding). I figure I am good to go for another ten years now. |
I just hate that eerie feeling between the time you realize that you are not going to get your feet out and, the time you hit the ground. :twitchy: Now, if you could put the feeling into a carnival ride and no one was to get hurt, then you could sell that ride all day long.

i'd been riding clipless for over 10 years... never a single incident like that... and then a few months back I was riding with a buddy on the trail... no more then 5 min after he'd toppled over while getting used to clipless (1st time out with em) I was looling back and chatting with him comming to a stop and i managed to put the wrong foot down... opps...
it happens... but usualy it isn't that painful more of a shocker then pain lol |
Yeah, it's more of a shocker than anything. amazing when you learn how to fall it is not as bad.
