Bike Weight Capacity
Hello. I am an old (57) rider who has been off the bike for a while and my weight has ballooned up to about 310 or so. This summer, I'm gonna try to address that with riding again. My bikes, however, concern me.
I have a Cannondale (aluminum) Road bike from the mid 80s (forget which one) and a Specialized Rock Hopper Sport (no shocks) from the late 80s. I also have a Giant Revive. Since I am so large now, I wonder if I can ride those bikes safely. I can't seem to find any info on weight limits for most bicycles. Any help you can give me would be most appreciated. Thanks. |
Frames are usually good for 500 pounds. Wheels are the weak point. The three bikes you listed should be good to ride if you have good wheelsets on them.

i wouldnt be scared of any of them and im 320 down from 345+ when i bought my 08 specialized sequoia elite last fall. i also ride my 86 raleigh record from time to time. make sure your wheels stay true and i would think they should work fine.
