Wow that tunnel is really dark...
The wife and I spent a few hours at the Tunnel Hill trail in IL this past weekend. I have to admit, it is really an amazing place, we already have plans to go back at some point this summer and fall.
A picture of my wife heading into the tunnel.
And one of the two of us on one of the bridges. Really a beautiful view here and along the rest of the trail.
And a link to the rest of the set from the trip. Unfortunately my batteries died on the camera at the tunnel.

It is in southern IL. I believe it runs from Harrisburg to Karnak. We rode from Vienna to tunnel hill, which is about 10 miles each way.

Darn, you should given me the heads up. I live about 20 minutes from the Vienna Trail Head.
Saturday I was looking for a ride and ended up just cruising the county by myself. If you or anyone else goes to the THT again, give me a shout and I will be there.
Glad you had a great time.
Jay

An FYI, that dry waterfall that you see behind you guys from that trestle was not there a year ago. It was created in one day when we had torrential rains that made the lake overflow along with massive (never before) run off. A couple of days after, I was riding the trail and looked to my left and could not believe my eyes. There was about 2 foot of water running over the lip and crashing below. STUNNING!

And i can only imagine what the falls looks like with water on it, considering it was extremely beautiful even dry.

That's a cool looking tunnel!
The best one around here is closed until further notice. The Snoqualmie Pass Tunnel is 4km long, but falling debris is causing a hazard so the Parks Department had to close all 5 tunnels on the John Wayne Pioneer Trail until repairs can be completed.
