Clyde Ride Buddy Conquers a Mtn Climb!

BF'er TomBunn joined us for an assault on GMR today. We rode across some rollers for 9 miles then headed up the 8 mile 6% climb. This was Tom's first time making it to the shack and he did well. This 8 mile climb is where most normal people turn and head back on the mtn climb. Some of the sick puppies go on to the village for added fun! I'm not sure but I think we may have created a monster. He'll be back for more!

BF'ers on the ride. Mad_One (skinny guy) and Grrlyrida (pink skinny gurl and good climber) and Gina the Athena. Nice mellow ride on a cool dark day with a threat of rain! The plan was to complete the 8 mile climb and yes we did! Tom's first victory! Good job!

Gina rode up about 2 miles then thought she'd puke. I reminded her it was all about relaxing. SHe did then went on to complete the climb for a 7th time. We all did good, inlcuding me!Hehehe!

37 miles with about 3000 ft.

Mad_One and Gina heading up

She's so silly! Gina wants to make it clear that this was after a short break and in no way was she ahead of the others. She says the picture looks as if she's in the lead evnthough the others could have ealiy spanked her on the climb!

Grrlyrida...always so calm and cool on the climbs!

Short conversation:
Beanz: Tom, you're kickin' but, look happy!
Tom: OK!

TomBunn's ATTACK..... ON THE SHACK!

Tom: Why?
Beanz: Cause you da man!
Tom: Hunh?
Beanz: You da man! You da man! You da man!
Tom: Hunh?
Beanz: Who da man?
Tom: Hunh?
Beanz:You Tom! You da MAN!
Tom: Oh, oh yeah!

Buddy TomBunn has done some reshaping! First time we met, he was round, no offense, jsut facts. Now when I ride behind him, he looks as if he's dropped inches and tighened up in all the right places. V shape form the back. It's cool to see a clyde defy the odds on a climb. Then the dude wanted to race back!

I may ride with him one or two more times, but that's it. I'll quit before he kicks my arse on the climb!

Great ride Beanz, and great pics! Those conversations were a LITTLE bit different than I remembered.

The weather was just perfect. Cool - threatened rain at the top, but it never happened. Everyone did a great job. The ride down was fun too.

There's something about making a tough climb. This was my third attempt and it feels good to accomplish this goal. Now on to the Village!

Beanz had a lot of patience and stayed with me. He needed me to slow him down so he wouldn't overtrain for next week's big ride. Admit it!
