Question about Cadillac and Schwinn

Hi all! I am a female weighing about 290 lbs and am looking to purchase a bike for casual riding (around the beach and such). I recently set my eyes on this Schwinn Bike and this Cadillac Bike.

Although I've asked employees at the stores, no one could tell me if there were weight limits for these bikes. I've searched the forums and haven't been able to find anything on these brands either. I was wondering if any one here had any knowledge or insight on these bikes/brands?

Thank you so much for any help!

Bets are both bikes are the same with different decals. Nothing much more then beach cruisers that will be a good start to loose weight and gain riding experience.

Thanks for the response! But is anyone familiar with the sturdiness of either of these bikes/brands? My main concern is how much weight they can handle. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find that info anywhere else.

I would say forget those bikes, you want to go to a local bicycle shop (LBS), and see what they have, if there are several in town, visit them all, there are a lot of nice bicycles out there, that have no problem with weight.

If money is an issue, visit the LBS anyway, and familiarize yourself with different brands and find out what size and type will fit you and your riding style. Then look at the experienced (read used) bicycle market, there are lots of low mileage bicycles looking for a new home for a reasonable price.

If you weigh 290, you are not going to hurt either one of those bikes. They both will work fine for you. My advise though if your picking from the 2 and are on a budget. Go with the Schwinn, its alot cheaper and the same bike with the exception of the so called Cadillac name, its a sticker to get people who don't know much about bikes to think that because it says Cadillac, its worth more.

Then if you find in time you really are getting into riding, hit your local bike shops, start saving your $ and get a nice bike.
