My new Monster Cross Bike

I finally got it after 2 weeks of agonizing waiting.

It's a Motobecane Fantom Cross Uno.

I actually didn't get it from BD so no shilling here. They actually have a retail outlet in Orlando FL so I got to test ride it first (even though I already knew what size i needed with my 56CM Allez).

I will be trying to ride it as my commuter (since its way cheaper in cost than what I did to my Allez) to work 22miles each way with a 14T fixed cog and the 16T freewheel if I get tired. I plan on taking it to work 3 days a week and hopefully riding the fixed will make me better/faster on the roadie.

I'm lucky that my work has showers and its a pretty safe route to where I'm going.

I put some Vuelta Deep V's on it with Kenda Kross 42C (thanks Nashbar $5 each) tires on it (just barely fits in the frame). I added some KEO easys and also a Nashbar Glide saddle to it (seems to be the most comfy saddle I've ever tried. Worked well when I did the MS150 a couple months back).

Initial ride actually left me stranded. I aparently didn't tighten the axle enough when I put the other wheels on and of course it slipped when I stood up and applied my heavy torque to the crank and had me walking home a mile (at least it was on the beach). I didn't have the tool bag on yet since I just was really excited to get it on the road.

Anyways here are some pics of it that were taken when I first picked it up and then a couple hours later.

Very nice! Enjoy the new ride!

If you used your credit card with Nashbar keep a very close eye on it. I don't know if the third party security company has got it's act together yet or not.

Now that you mention it I. Just recently had my info stolen and had to cancel my card and go through the process of getting my money back a little over a month ago. I've been watching my statementes close just every day to see if anything has changed.

Me too, don't feel bad.

It's ashame because I used to buy a bunch of stuff from them...I know it's not Nashbar's fault directly but it still stings knowing that it came from ordering products from them. Enjoy that new ride and that is really sweet to have a bikesdriect storefront where you can check stuff out. You might end up being a popular fellow here if you would be willing to scope bikes out for potential buyers. I know I was very close to buying a Fantom Cross Pro awhile back.
