So, does this mean I can't ride my bike?

The look on my Ortho's face was priceless when I asked him that today. He had just drained what felt like few gallons of fluid off of both knees, shot both of them up with some 'roids, and signed me up for a month of physical terrorpy.

Meh, it's only an MCL sprain in one knee and some torn scar tissue and swelling in the other knee.

Looks like I need a trainer for most of my miles for the next month, but he did say I could soft pedal around the 'hood when it stops feeling like rail road spikes being driven under my knee caps when I pedal.:D

Dude, that sucks. At least he gave you the green light to ride when the pain subsides. Do you feel any improvement yet, or is it too soon?

Umm, five hours since the injections. The pain meds in the shots is wearing off and both knees feel like they are going to explode from all the steroids that took the place of the fluid that was drained off.

Gonna have to go with no on this one so far.

It will probably take a couple of days for the injections to get to working well. Hopefully I'll be feeling better just in time for PT on Tuesday:twitchy:

It's over 100 degrees outside so it's a good excuse to not mow the yard:D

Well take it easy and pay attention to the PT. Knees aren't things you really want to mess with. As you get older, you'll appreciate that even more :).

Nice way to get out of the yardwork, though.

Soft pedaling might help you keep some flexibility. If you can't bend your knee enough to pedal, that can kill your cycling future. My experience has been that the PTs can be very helpful particularly if their clients are highly motivated athletes wanting to get back into the game.

Oh, I'm veteran of an open reduction foot surgery for a compound fracture , two knee surgeries, a shouder surgery, and three back surgeries, one of which included a hip cut for some spare bone and an abdomional surgery to place some titanium bits and pieces. At 46 yrs of age I have knee that was declared a future replacement candidate 8 years ago. Oddly, it's currently my "good knee" lol.

I've spent more time in PT than I can ever begin to count, and I learned the lesson of listening and following directions a long time ago:thumb:

At least we have knee replacement now, when I think that my grandfather, ended up in a wheelchair because of arthritic knees, and my mother was headed the same way until she had knee replacement a few years ago and now walks unaided, I am thankful that we have the technology now to do such things.
