Working on my diet, still at the same weight (250lbs) I just signed up for a triathlon in September and an adventure race in November. So I have a little more motivation to get in shape.

My diet has not been good- I thinkI am about the same as last week. 3.5 pounds up form my lowest of late...so i am 176.5 (on a good day) and would like to get back down.

But I would need to work on it for that to happen.

OK-
Tuesday - Dinner Subway
Wed - Oatmeal for Bkfast (As opposed to pancakes) Had mouth surgery and can't eat anything with edges. Wine and Appetizer party at Millenium Park.... Go easy!
Thursday - Oatmeal for Breakfast!

No working out due to the mouth...riding 50 on Saturday I think. Working at the Covington Century Rest Stop and will ride out to the stop and back...concentrate on feeding the people, not me!

Drink a ton of water.

And, anyway, I had an update I wanted to get in here, so drumroll, please.....

Goal for last week met (I'm proud b/c I rode 17 miles in 2 hours last Saturday morning) and I also lost the 2 pounds I'd planned on. Current weight: 241.8

Goal for this week: Ride for as long as possible (and as far as possible) on Thursday and Saturday. And drop 2 more pounds.

What a busy first week for me. Rode 4 out of 7 days. Missed my last week goal by only one pound (out of three). I also did my first bike race, I got dropped but it was fun and gave me a lot of motivation for this week.

Current weight: 221 lbs
Goal: Lose 3 pounds, do better on this week's race and stick to my training/nutrition plan.

P.S. (I think I accidentally posted a duplicate thread - I didn't see that this one had already been created - is there a way to delete a duplicate?)

Missing a 3lb weight loss goal is cool when it means you lost 3. You go!

Hey Miss Bumble..how'd date go? I mean food as well as date *LOL*

Goal for this week is standard 2lbs but would really like if I could lose 3lbs and go into 240s *grin*.
Week has been poor eating so far but hoping PT tonight and eating right rest of week will help. Not weighing in till Sat or Sun so as not to get discouraged.

Would like to get 1-2 rides in but weather here is quoting min of 40% chance of rain for next 8 days *sigh*... need a bike trainer (will get end of Aug with student loan cash). just need to do alternate exercise *grump*

The date - Well no to worry, I am still single. The date was fun but the guy is not really available and not really for me... so I am still holding my breath for someone to come along...until then, there's me and my bike... and the girls (2 fluffy cats - man I love them!)

(ooh was that not a real question???)

*LOL* it was a real question. wait he went on a date and he is not really available... hmmm I apologize for my gender, it seems we are prone to this (not all thankfully ) *LOL*. If I was single I would offer to redeem the male gender but at this time I cannot (11 yr marriage - extremely rocky- possibly ending), which sucks as I come with a Scottish accent also *LOL*.

*LOL* you know cats are the bomb, I have 2 cats and a chocolate lab (all 3 stay with me as wifes apt does not allow pets and the lab has always been her baby *LOL*)

haven't posted in a while...I've been stuck at 242 for the last couple weeks, but then I haven't been perfect on my diet, riding is great though! So I'm down 84lbs from a year ago. I hit some major milestones lately in my riding. One of which is competing a cat 5 bike race. I finished it, which was my goal the first time out. I've also been able to hang on to some super fast group rides. Most significantly, my brother can no longer drop me! He's races and rides a lot more than I, but I'm catching up to him! I'm commuting by bike to work 2 or 3 times a week. Oh yea, I got a purdy new proper road bike too...It's a Steelman Stage Race. Pure sex!

I'm wearing 38x32 jeans now and XLT or even LT shirts. I really feel great, and I'm getting within reach of my ultimate goal of 225. I will probably decide to go to 215 after that, but we'll see.

For me, food is still tough. I don't eat like I used to (out to eat 3x every day, plenty of snacking, tons of soda), but I also am not eating dainty meals. I eat when I'm hungry, but I try to make better decisions about what I eat and make healthy foods convenient. It's hard to eat a piece of fruit if you don't have any around! My maxim is simply (please nobody take this too seriously ) If you want to stop being a fat person, you have to stop acting like one! My trouble with food has always been volume. I can eat incredible amounts, but have found that I enjoy a small(er) portion just as much.

Concerning the cat 5 racers, yes, it was a bit squirrelly! There were several very helpful racers from other categories that rode with and gave great pointers and direction. Given the wide range of skill (and lack thereof) in that race, I figured I wouldn't embarrass myself. I intend to race one or two more times this year, and then buy a proper license next year. I may even try the track, as several of my friends have fun with that.

WEll Monday update on Tuesday. *LOL* Weighed my self Saturday and I made the 249lb mark wooooooooo. The problem is I think I gained the 3 lbs back sat night and sunday plus a couple more so I am now working for the rest of the week to clear my system and at least be back to this weight next week (hopefully even drop 1 or 2 lbs ). Weather was nice enough that I got a 20 mile ride in and we visited a state park and did a 10 mile hilly ride.

I weigh myself every Monday. Last Monday I had gained 3 lbs. after riding 156K the week before. Arrg!! It's the story of my life. I'm vegetarian, eat almost everything out of our garden in the summer. I do watch what I eat. So far, this week, I've gone 204K with one more day to go. It'll be interesting to see if I lost any weight on Monday. We'll let you know.
