new helmet makes me faster..
So I replaced my old schwinn wallyworld helmet with a Bell Ghisallo helmet. Tried it out the first time yesterday and noticed it had alot more ventilation and I was riding 2mph faster than normal!?! probably just coincidence LOL. I think I'm a faster rider in the afternoon than in the morning. Nice helmet though. Wish I could buy the Giros but they're too pricey right now.
On the same ride yesterday, I was going down a fairly steep hill at a rate of 25 mph. I saw a car on the opposite lane making a left turn. Being a motorcyclist rider as well, I scanned the situation and knew she wasn't watching for me as I headed down the hill. So I was ready to pull both brakes. Sure enough, as I got closer, she was starting to make that left turn. I locked up both brakes instantly but kept control. She finally saw me braking hard so she stopped. As I past her, I yelled all the cuss words I could think of. I was so pissed that I almost stopped and kicked her door in. But I let it go and just rode on. I almost literaly broke in that new helmet if that lady didn't stop. But thank god for those Koolstop brake pads that I changed out a few weeks ago. I don't think I would've stopped that effectively with the stock pads!

I want a Catlike Whisper Plus. It seemed to make Thor go faster, why not me?
Sucks about the lady cutting you off. I have 3 year old pads and ride down a lot of hills fast, I hit my all time high of 40.3 mph last week, guess I should switch out my pads. Which makes me wonder, how often should we change brake pads?

did you get a look at how much those helmets are? 118 EUROS not dollars, euros. That makes it somewhere north of $200. I don't know what the euro to dollar rate is. I would love to have one but it will have to fall out of the sky for me!

Well I am hoping the new helmet I got will make me go faster also *LOL*. Bought a trek one while the sale was on (want a trek madone but too poor *LOL*). went for the interval XL for my huge noggin *grin* as mike myers would put it (and being scottish I have the accent - really helps living in the US with the accent *grin*) my heid is like an orange on a (very thick) toothpick
Linky to helmet I now have
fits so much better than the 10 buck wally world one

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

I had to chime in on this post because I bought a Giro Atmos for a song at a place that was clearancing
out last years colors and found that compared to my Specialized Enduro (MTB) type helmet that this
road helmet was seemingly allowing me to go about 1.5-2 mph faster than normal and I had the GPS
track to prove it.
I think that I was possibly well rested and in a good mood but...

Do your new well-ventilated helmets make you sweat less while riding? I bought a new one in January, but I sweat as much as ever. It may not have the efficient or large vents that some of the newer (and more expensive) ones have.
