San Gabriel River Group Ride -Encanto Park-

I have been looking around for a group ride that is not too fast in the area. The Rose Bowl group rides are too fast and the others still seem out of my league. I figure I would ask if anyone here is interested in getting together and riding the SGR.

Friendly group ride for us that starts at Encanto Park in the city of Duarte.

google map of Encanto Park

We can ride down south on San Gabriel River to the city of Montebello and back

It is about 30 miles round trip

Ride info

Date: Sat 08/01 or Sat 08/08 (This sat may be too short of a notice)
Time: 8am
Location: Encanto Park
Distance: 30 miles
speed: 12-18 mph

What other rides have you been considering? At any rate, I cannot. Saturdays I do the Montrose Ride.

You could try this ride. It was started to help riders who want to go slow acclimate to group riding skills & techniques. Wednesday nights, 6pm-ish at the Rose Bowl (no, not the fast Tue/Thu RB ride). I don't know if they've done anything lately, but if you register & post on the forum about it, maybe it could start going again.

Great ride, 40 miles and you only have to cross 1 major road; Arrow Highway. Kinda seedy throug Whittier Narrows and Pico Rivera, but in a group its ok. Comming back, the grade up the dam is the only real hill in the ride.

Just wondering, how far north does the San Gabriel River Trail go?

it ends about 2 miles north of the Encanto park, from there it is all uphill on the road with cars

I'll try this again with a post on socal and another forum as well.
