What bike would you want to ride..... In the spirit of who you would like to ride with, what would you like to ride?

For me, it would be a custom Chromoly touring bike built by the geniuses at True North Cycles in Guelph, Ontario. I've seen their work at the bike show, and they turn out some really nice bicycles. They don't have specific models, everything is built to order. Yeah front and rear racks and full fenders with road disc brakes, bar end shifters and topped off with a Brooks.

Now if only I could win the lotto......

I've got a Fuji Absolute 4.0, and right next to my bike on the rack was an AWESOME Fuji D-6. I want the signature edition. I want to know what it feels like to ride on an unreal carbon frame like that.

I'd have to give the frame/fork set a lot of serious thought. I don't know whether I'd go custom Ti or custom CF. Probably Ti. Outfitted with Super Record and some sort of pretty serious 30mm clinchers, Topolino maybe. It would take a bunch of research. Oh, and a really funky paint job!

All of this would be followed by a trip to Europe to ride some of the great climbs (Alpe d'Huez, Ventoux, etc.), but NOT the Angrilu in Spain. That one is just sick hard. 22% grades are just not going to be fun, regardless of gearing.

Oh, and I'd bring a selection of my favorite BF personalities with me.

Aw heck that's easy. A Rans X-Stream. Here's a shot of one, and I'd prefer 26" rims over 650c:

And a pair of "real" legs.

Lungs would be nice, too...

Aside from the fact Grant Peterson would have the saddle too high for me to mount, I like the Rivendell Betty Foy:

Not to hijack the thread too bad, but .....

Have you used road tubeless yet?

I'm thinking of doing a conversion to tubeless - there is a kit for $150 available for most rims now.

I would have one best-in-class custom made bike from a builder like independednt fabricator.

I would start with this: https://www.ifbikes.com/OurBikes/Road/XS/

XS
Main Features Options Tubeset The ultimate blend of passion and technology; The XS seamlessly combines titanium with carbon fiber to create a rider-specific frameset born from a world-championship winning design. Custom geometry, the classic styling of lugs, and modern fabrication techniques results in an uncompromised ride. Winner of Bicycling Magazine’s “Best Dream Road Bike” for 2005 and 2006 and “Best Track Bike” at the 2007 North American Handmade Bike Show.

Frame/Fork Price
MSRP $5,995 (With laser cut crown lugs)

* Complete pricing depends on custom options and selected componentry. Please consult a certified IF dealer for more details.Aerospace grade 3/2.5 titanium tubing used in the front triangle
Lugged main triangle with custom made carbon fiber tubing
Shot peened for a durable, superior finish and improved fatigue life (read more about shot peening)
Custom machined 6/4 titanium dropouts
Choice of any decal
EDGE all carbon 1.125" fork
Custom fork offset
Sterling silver headbadge
Nontransferable lifetime warranty
Custom paint available - applied in our own PPG Certified paint shop
Custom lugs (call for quote)
Exotic metal headbadge
IF uses only the best US Aerospace grade titanium suppliers coupled with carbon fiber tubes made specifically for us by EDGE Composites to give your new bike ideal ride characteristics for your body, weight, and riding style. We miter each carbon tube to fit all of the way into the lug to maximize the glue overlap.

We've worked long and hard developing and refining the XS frameset to be as customizable as any other frame we make. Every angle, every tube specification, every option is selected per bicycle. No two have been, nor will likely be, built the same. Each frame is as unique as its rider.

Nope, my main ride is a 07 Grand Sport. A full set of carbon tubeless would run me more than the MSRP of the bike itself. I was just toying with the idea of limitless funds and figured tubeless would compliment the super record 11 gruppo.

Course to build that bike up I might have to win the lottery twice

Well, if you're talking aero aids you might as well go to the logical conclusion and get a Quest (or similar).

I like the X-Stream since it seems to offer a nice compromise of aero position, shock absorption with the long wheelbase, and performance with a lightweight frame. The is also a very sexy bike, if money was no object I'd own one of each!

Money and time no concern?
I would go and find a frame builder and have this poor guy teach me enough for me to build my own bike (under his expert supervision). Simply buying a bike - where is the adventure?

I love lowracers because it feels like I'm one with the machine diving into turns and such much like my road bike feels. The thing I least liked about my Giro 26 is how it was so much like driving a bus. You just sorta sit up there wondering where the seat belt is, point it where you want to go and pedal. I briefly test rode an X-Stream and it felt very similar.

The aero is definately nice to have but I wouldn't want to be fully enclosed or on a trike. Even with the tailbox I would still feel the wind and such. It would be neat to ride one to see what it was like but I don't think I'd want to own one.

I'd go that route. Vanilla is right around the corner from my favorite manufacturer of recumbent accesories. This is about my speed: https://vanillabicycles.com/frames/touring/1/

Too bad he's got about a two year waiting list.

Hunter's 29er is a sharp looking bike with the cruiser-style frame. I'd like to see something along that line built specifically as a single-speed cruiser.
