What bike would you want to ride..... In the spirit of who you would like to ride with, what would you like to ride?

For me, it would be a custom Chromoly touring bike built by the geniuses at True North Cycles in Guelph, Ontario. I've seen their work at the bike show, and they turn out some really nice bicycles. They don't have specific models, everything is built to order. Yeah front and rear racks and full fenders with road disc brakes, bar end shifters and topped off with a Brooks.

Now if only I could win the lotto......

I've got a Fuji Absolute 4.0, and right next to my bike on the rack was an AWESOME Fuji D-6. I want the signature edition. I want to know what it feels like to ride on an unreal carbon frame like that.

I'd have to give the frame/fork set a lot of serious thought. I don't know whether I'd go custom Ti or custom CF. Probably Ti. Outfitted with Super Record and some sort of pretty serious 30mm clinchers, Topolino maybe. It would take a bunch of research. Oh, and a really funky paint job!

All of this would be followed by a trip to Europe to ride some of the great climbs (Alpe d'Huez, Ventoux, etc.), but NOT the Angrilu in Spain. That one is just sick hard. 22% grades are just not going to be fun, regardless of gearing.

Oh, and I'd bring a selection of my favorite BF personalities with me.

Nope, my main ride is a 07 Grand Sport. A full set of carbon tubeless would run me more than the MSRP of the bike itself. I was just toying with the idea of limitless funds and figured tubeless would compliment the super record 11 gruppo.

Course to build that bike up I might have to win the lottery twice

X-stream yuck they are way too common. I think there has to be 4-5 of those around my parts.
I would go with a velocraft nocom with the nice tailbox

Well, if you're talking aero aids you might as well go to the logical conclusion and get a Quest (or similar).


I like the X-Stream since it seems to offer a nice compromise of aero position, shock absorption with the long wheelbase, and performance with a lightweight frame. The is also a very sexy bike, if money was no object I'd own one of each!

Money and time no concern?
I would go and find a frame builder and have this poor guy teach me enough for me to build my own bike (under his expert supervision). Simply buying a bike - where is the adventure?

I love lowracers because it feels like I'm one with the machine diving into turns and such much like my road bike feels. The thing I least liked about my Giro 26 is how it was so much like driving a bus. You just sorta sit up there wondering where the seat belt is, point it where you want to go and pedal. I briefly test rode an X-Stream and it felt very similar.

The aero is definately nice to have but I wouldn't want to be fully enclosed or on a trike. Even with the tailbox I would still feel the wind and such. It would be neat to ride one to see what it was like but I don't think I'd want to own one.

If money were no object, I would like new bar tape for my Denali. It's starting to work loose ( I think I lean a little when I ride).

Find local framebuilder willing to go full custom with Reynolds 631 tubes and custom carved lugs. Phil 36h singlespeed rear hub, SON28 front, 3 cross with DT Champion 2.0 to silver DT RR1.2 rims. EAI freewheel, Surly steel chainring on Sugino 75 cranks. Paul neo-retro cantis front and rear. Tektro R200 levers, Salsa M/A Bell Lap bars, harlequin wrap/shellac Tressostar cloth tape.
Frame brazes for fenders (Honjo hammered) and racks; Nitto Mark's Rack in back, VO Randonneur up front. Twin Supernova E3 (one symmetrical, one focused) and E3 taillight. Berthoud handlebar bag, Carradice Camper Longflap on a B-17 Imperial.
