Nutrition/Conditioning Question

A quick one...sometimes when I ride see clear swirling patterns, like if you were looking at a running fan, but it had clear blades...what's causing that, and big question does it indicate something dangerous? It usually goes away when I rest and get some water/food, so it has to be related to that in some way, but what way?

I always presumed that's what people refer to as tunnel vision, I also have a hard time focusing on something at any given time with that. Only ever get it when I don't have enough sleep, especially on long road trips (hour 10 without stopping the car blasting from NJ to KY). I know what you mean, it's like things are dancing around a central point. It's usually my sign to pull over and sleep, in a car.

Uhh. Idk but I would have someone check it out it sounds like you may be seeing the fluid in your eye. I have no idea what would cause that. Hope someone else can help

A lot of floaters. Are you diabetic? If so, get a check for macular degeneration.

It's hard to describe it. I don't feel ordinarily bad, other than the obvious that goes with a ride that you've put effort into. My best guess was a shortage of water, since I don't have the capability to carry it and don't keep track of time while I ride. But otherwise, I'm not really sure what would cause that. It doesn't happen any other time, so I'd have to think it's something to do with the physical exertion of the riding.

Shortage of water? How long are your rides? 2 bottles is usually enough for a 3 hour ride if I stretch it. A big mistake many riders make is trying to hdrate on the bike. I don't wate to hydrate on the bike, I start the night before. Especially while prepping for a ride with 10,000 ft of climbing. Prep the body ahead. Make sure your organs have plenty of fluid before you hit the road.:thumb:

ON another note, I do migraine headeaches now and then. Had them since I was about 12 yo The doc calls it an aura. I see bright lights, lose half my vision and can't see for 30 minutes or so. But my aura is usually followed by a BIG headache and some serious puking! Always fun!:p

I do have the latest meds. Maxalt, really helps!:D

I would be concerned about any health event that is enough out of the ordinary that it causes you to post to this forum.
