Cute/Pretty girl that cheered me on!

I was riding home from work yesterday (more like finding my way since changing towns and jobs) When this very attrictive gal passed me. She was full of compliment however. When she passed me on the long phill she told me great job and keep it up. Later on as she was turned around and stopped for a break I came up another good hill but luckily had a downhill for speed. She was cheering me on .. "KEEP CRANKING" "YOU'RE DOING GREAT" etc. It really made me feel good. I told my wife how it's little things like that that make my day! I hope to actually meet her as her timing was perfect. She gave me energy for the last 4 hills or so.. I hope to tell her thanks ( and maybe keep up).. Did I mention I was on a road bike and she passed me on a FS with knobbies.. I was impressed.... I hope to soon be in that shape

You will be if you keep trying!!

Glenn1234 08-06-09 07:50 PM

Good! Always something positive to be had! Keep at it and it'll happen!

That's cool. That is something I have noticed a lot in this entire subculture of cyclists. I have done lots of rides and triathlons and everyone is really nice. 80% of the people that passed me in my last triathlon passed with a "good job" or a "keep it up" I agree with the OP it's very motivating and helps you keep going.

Weird...something like this happened to me yesterday. I was running loops of about 15 miles or so (staying near water and a bathroom for reason we will not go into right now :D ), so once an hour I was passing this house. There was a gaggle (a pack? a flock?) of college-aged beauties sunbathing on the lawn, and they were cheering me every time I passed. First time I thought they were mocking me, but the second time I saw the pile of bikes in the driveway. I heard "Jesus, you are working that thing! Nice job dude." Third time I heard "That guy is dedicated" and another replied "Not like your flabby a..!"

Last time I heard "DUDE, YOU ROCK. GO FASTER!" So that was cool.

I was jeered by a bunch of teenage boys while climbing Umbria Street in Manayunk last year. That's the closest I've come to being 'encouraged' on a ride.

Well, almost. Back in 2007 on a day of bike commuting, I was riding home atop my Navigator. Since I work second shift the return leg is at night, 11:00 PM or so. As I passed through Phoenixville, a car pulls alongside me and the passenger sticks his head out of the window. I was scared nearly to death, but he only wanted to ask a question:

"Guy, I saw you riding this same road this morning, and you are still out here. Is this a contest or something?"

I had a lady slap my a** out of the window of a truck while climbing a hill once. Last night a real good looking woman stoppped and asked my brother inlaws and I for directions, I was able to help her out and as she pulled away she says, nice legs by the way.

I knew a guy in high school that did that from his motorcycle, he didn't go through the rear window of the car he hit, he went through the rear window of the car ahead of it :trainwreck: Lets just say he didn't graduate with our class, or the one after it, but the one after that:eek:

It is well known among recumbent riders that they offer spectacular views. You know if your into that sort of thing. They also get lots of attention from fit non cyclists. :innocent:
Unfortunately everyone who passes me, hr max of 130 means lot of passes, says that looks comfy or where is the TV.. Not much encouragement there :(
