Weekend Ride Fun and Pics

Nice weekend for riding on the trail. Lots of riders on Saturday. Sunny skies but a cool breeze made it great!...46 on Saturday and 47 on Sunday!

Me and Gina from a friend's camera

Joined by Chuck5.2 (BF member)

Boyd, guy had open heart few years ago and a glass eye but rides tough ( not everybody has good excuse)

I rarely ride a wheel but this day, this fairly new team was riding well so I just sat in and enjoyed the ride! Friends Alan and Tammy.

I don't know these people but thought it was cool. A man, his wife, and two little girlie roadies starting young! They prolly thought I was a nut when I whipped out the camera!

Sunday at the beach stop. Few BF members meet up. Where was Condorita!mad:

MTBLurker and Eric Anderson

BF member Alex2

Headed back with MTBLurker, but he dropped the hammer

Gina was hammered and struggling to hold the pace so we dropped it back down to 20. Last 10 of the weekend's 94 miles so she did well after a couple weeks off the bike.

Jose and Boyd are always happy to hear Gina say "Uncle" when the pace gets too high. They latched on the back and were happy to cruise the last 10 with us! Old man Boyd (62) rode beter on Sunday than he did on Saturday. Must have done a darn good job on that open heart surgery. That and we let him hang with us cause he and his deer brings ups nice toys at Christmas!

Yeah, ,she got tired! It's funny cause she controls my pace when we ride together. Sometimes she'll call for water, so we back off a bit, allow some room between riders so that they don't hit eachother, every body drinks then we resume the line.

The guys are always too happy when she calls for a breather or a drink!

Thanks. You've just made me very unhappy about living inland. I love the beach.

I would fall off the wheel at her warm up, LOL. 20MPH was my max today so the hybrid bet is off Sir!

20 is a sprint for me! Any more than a few blocks of that and I'm done.

Good lord. Slowing down to 20. I cannot maintain that on my roadbike for more than a couple of minutes on a flat with a tailwind. Mark me down as impressed.

The member above in the pics (Chuck 5.2) was with us on one ride, maybe 2 years ago. We were near the end of our 42 mile ride when we got into a little friendly competition with a tandem. We were pushing hard when the tandem dropped. I pulled away form the tandem thinking Chuck and Gina were on my wheel. Then Chuck shouts,"Gina dropped!". I just thought darn as I didn't realize she had fallen back. So I sit up then the tandem goes flying by and the lady on the back says,"your wife dropped".

A split second goes by as the tandem passes and to my surprise, Gina's on their wheel shouting,"c'mon let's go!"...Yeah baby it's on! She recovered and we rolled on by the tandem. I think they were shocked.

At the end of th ride Chuck said, "Gina is strong, she could easily race if she wanted". I think he was surprised along the way as she steadily climbed a couple of little tough inclines along the way without slowing at all!

I hope she doesn't cause she'd kick my butt. So who's taking the hyrid challenge?

Her average for the ride was 18.4 for the42 mile ride...That means there were some high speeds over 20 for some periods of time that day!

Condorita made a run down to the farmers' market at Alamitos Bay, so she wasn't on SART Sunday. And had a freak accident involving her heel and a grocery pannier full of farmers' market haul that broke a spoke on Orion.

I remember that day well. I was at about 70 on a solo Century. Once we passed the tandem I never saw them again....I think we might have killed them ! :O. I cant count the number of solo hammerheads Beanz and Gina passed last summer. I just enjoy the pull and the look on a 20 somethings face as first Clydesdale Beans...followed by Lady Gina...followed by old geezer Chuck go flying past at 23 ! I can testify that Beanz had it up to 30 one day on the straight flat on the SRT just before Imperial. I stayed right with him. Of course I was a young lad of 57 at the time.

Which day did you take the pictures? The wife and I rode the SART to HB on sunday... You may have seen us unless you blinked. Our avg speed was 14.3 for the 25 miles we rode.

I'm not sure who you are but if you are a clyde, I'm thinking maybe the couple that starts at Orangewood and Rampart. You park inside the lot?

A Dude and his wife, he's in a yellow'ish outfit and her in a red/white/blue? We start there but hed inlad to Weir Canyon beofe heading back to the coast. If it's you, I think I saw you and your wife sitting on a rock along the trail. I have seen this couple a few times in the past.

If it is you, then you have seen us at the start of your ride at Rampart. I drive a silver Chevy Truck.

BTW, the pictures are from both days! Her Blue top was Sturday and pinktop was on Sunday! Or did you just think she changed clothes really fast!

We did the 47 miles at 16.4 average

It was you! Gina just confirmed the floral pattern and red white and blue stipes on your outfit.

Funny, I think last time we were there, a week or two ago,no more than a month, we were watering up our bottles at the water fountain there as you and your wife entered the trail thru the little gate.

I *think* I recognize MTBLurker and Eric Anderson from sunday, they were with a group that arrived just before we left. Thinking i saw the white long sleeve jersey and the specialized against that wall.

AH! The Specialized belongs to our Santa of a Friend Boyd (guy in the pics with the white beard).

Eric Anderson was riding a souped up race type recumbent with a big black disc wheel (not pictured).

Now that I think of it, you two were leaving right as or after we got to the beach stop.

We pulled up and I started teasing other friends about taking our parking spots!
