NOT Another Bike Opinion Thread!

:twitchy:Yup, sorry to say it is. The thing is; some of you guys are tooling around on some pretty choice rides and have experience with several different bikes. I value you opinion regarding bikes for the heavy weight crowd. I've been looking at the CAAD 9 7 ($990), Defy 1 ($1100), TRC w/ 105 group ($1300), & Alliez basic($880) and Sport ($1300). I'm looking for something that I can shrink into, but won't break on me now (at a shade under 300). Thanks in advance.

I don't have much experience with those except for the fact that when I was starting to look for a bike, at one of the shops I rode a CAAD9 6 and a Scott Speedster. Both were the same size, but the Cannondale felt really cramped and maybe a bit more aggressive than what I was looking for. I think the Defy is meant to have a more relaxed geometry. With that being said, I bought a fitness/hybrid bike, but now I'm planning to get a road bike. The TCR Alliance 1 and Defy 1 are on my list of bikes to try and look into, so I'm interested in this as well.

Good luck!

Get the bike you love.
Best advise i got. You can worry about ton's of things, but get the bike thats comfy and does something for you.
Everything else will come into play,
Saying that
check out felt bicycles as well.
none are bad choices.
You wont break the bike at your weight, don't worry about that, just get Good wheels and 25 width tires.
Good luck

I believe that all of your short list will hold up under you. I think it's down to what bike you like... Which fits you best. Will the shop do a fitting and make sure it fits before taking it off the floor? Does one reach out and touch you?
