New to the group
Just wanted to introduce myself to the group here, I've been lurking in here for a while but haven't chimed in on too many threads. I'm just barely a clyde and hopefully will soon become an emeritus member. I started mountain biking a couple summers ago when I still lived in Tampa, FL and actually road quite a bit while I was stil therel in grad school. Last summer we moved to the Washington, DC area and my riding has been very infrequent/almost non-existant. Couple infrequent riding with a new job in outside sales with a fat expense account = eating out almost every day for lunch and some pretty substantial weight gain. Part of the reason I haven't been riding is I hate dealing with traffic around here to drive somewhere to mountain bike, and while I have a set of spare MTB wheels w/ road slicks on them, I'm not a big fan of riding my MTB on the road. So I just solved that problem and bought me my first ever road bike, I got a 2010 Specialized Roubaix Elite this afternoon. Tomorrow will be the maiden voyage (riding it around the LBS neighborhood doesn't count). Anyways, enough blabbering, I just wanted to say high and share my new bicycle excitement!

Welcome and enjoy that nice bike . If you want you can come over the commuting forum. We'll have you taking the lane, ranting about weather, complaining about cagers, and possibly being a bike snob in no time at all .

Well I took it out for my first ride tonight... 10.29 miles in just over 45 minutes. It's definitely going to take me a while to get used to riding the road bike, but I definitely enjoyed it. I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow though. Pics to come soon!

Just think of it as the beginning of a very long relationship. The being sore will go away pretty quickly as you adjust to the different riding position.

There are at least three meanings to that remark.
