If you want a real beating, and to make friends with your SGT.,get a EGA tattoo and go to bootcamp!!! You'll find out how much sleep you really need and how far you can run.

Left-left-left-right-left,your pants are loose, your boots are tight, your balls are swinging from left to right,left-left-left-right-left.

I was in the Marines for 7 years, and I have no issue with people wearing the EGA out of respect.

If you were to wear a uniform, it is a potential issue, but that is not the case here.

You will probably be asked where you served etc, but if you do, just be honest that you wear it out of respect for those who it represents, then all should be well.

You might run into a jerk or two that won't like it... but you'll get that no matter what you wear.

Not to hijack but, anyone know where to find service jerseys? I'd like to get a USAF jersey. Love2Pedal has them but not in tall sizes I'd need a 4XTall. Thanks!

That's the kind of thing I was worried about. Some may still feel that way, but I guess as long as they don't rage out, flashback, or go PTSD on me, we'll be ok. I have every intention of being honesst about how I came to own it and why.

I have no intention or desire to sport the uniform. I don't think I'll take it that far. I do want to get a US Army jersey(without graduating boot camp) since it seems the current adn former servicemen are ok with a non-service person wearing the emblems on such apparel.

As for where to find them.... just keep searching. And contact the owner at Love2Pedal(he is a forum member) and you may be able to get the jerseys you want in your size. I intend to do just that... as soon as I can afford more jerseys.

I've worn EGA t-shirts and would wear the jersey. My dad was in the Corps during WWII, I was in MCJROTC for 4 years, and I have 2 nephews who are Marines, one active, one former active. Wear it, but do so with pride and respect, as others have said.

Funny thing, I just pulled out a t-shirt from a bike race I did at MCAS Beaufort with an EGA on it.

That USMC Jersey is not an official Marine Uniform nor are any of the Services cycling jerseys. They are a depiction of the different branches of the military and as such, anyone can wear them. They are honorific in nature and not necessarily mean you are disrespecting any of the Services.

Now if you go out and purchase an actual uniform or a reasonable facsimile thereof and have never been in any of the services, you will get called out by those that have served. It is part of our job to make sure that active duty service members are wearing the uniform properly. And if an NCO or SNCO sees anyone wearing the uniform the wrong way, get ready for an ass chewing the likes of which you've never seen. We can usually spot uniform violations a mile away and an impersonator almost always makes a mistake.

Just be prepared to answer questions by those who usually don't know any better. A service member usually knows better, we usually just make a comment like, "nice jersey" or something along those lines.

Talk about taking liberties. Noticed this in the credits for Repo something or other when channel hopping. They not only have the EGA logo but named the company EGA Productions Don't think they have any affiliations with the military.

Why would you want a Jar Head logo? USAF would be much better.

I guess if you make sure your the first one to show up for the ride and the last one to leave it should be alright.

The owner of both the repo company and production company is a former Marine. I watch Operation Repo regularly.

I was an Army brat (dad passed away..) but I haven't bought Army stuff because I don't want to be mistaken as someone that has served, because I have not.

Perry W, you have served. Dont think for one moment you havnt. I am a Marine brat myself,
dad served for thirty years all over the world with his family in tow. When he was gone we were without dad and when he got orders we had to move. So the way i see it, anyone from any branch of the service and their families have earned the rite to call them selves accordingly. For those that havnt served or come from a family that has served, I see it as supporting our nations finest, so go for it.

One of my very good friends is (was) a Marine until he retired. He is still gung ho big time! This guy kicks ass. He told me stories of his exploits in Iraq and Afghanistan (16 months out each time) and I'm awed at his percevierance, loyalty to the service, his family, and the USA. When I have the body to fill that jersey out, I will wear it for him.

Wear it! It looks great and is definitely respectful. As other posters pointed out, be prepared for questions. Marines are a tight knit group and will approach you. I worked for the Marines as a civil servant and have a few shirts with the EGA that I wear from time to time. I always get asked if I'm affiliated. I'm proud to say that I was....even though I'm retired Army Reserve which the Marines never held against me. Don't be surprised if a Marine wants to buy you a beer.
