Turned back by Mother Nature! Tonight’s ride POINT seven miles…

Hello all, I have yet to turn back from a ride because I was too tired, too sore, it was too windy… Or for any other reason that I can remember.

But tonight Mother Nature turned me back! The total ride was less than a mile! What did she throw at me?… Not a Tornado or Hurricane… It was gnats. AN UBELIEVABLE AMOUNT OF GNATS!

Almost instantly they were everywhere. In the nose, in the ears, covering everything that faced forward… And when I opened my mouth to suggest that we turn back… I paid the price.

We laughed, and stated that we should bring the camera along on every ride for just such a situation. I thought we would not be able to adequately describe just how many there were. And it dawned on me… a lot of them are still on the bike. So I took a close up picture.

THIS is what every inch of us that was facing forward looked like… Actually some inches, (such as the beard, which captured them nicely, were much worse!)

What has turned you back so early in a ride?

Leg cramps :\

I had planned on doing at least 25 that day but had to cut it short by 10 miles because both of my calves started cramping up pretty bad.

I have had issues with gnats before....but never that bad
