Another day, another 3,761 calories to eat...

gah...

lets see... since i quit cycling (againt stoopid Dr.)... cycling did help me lose the first 35 lbs in a very short amount of time...

I have ramped my caloric intake to 3,761 per day...

why?

I lost 5 pounds in the last couple of weeks... I am sick of eating... sick of it I tell you...

if anything this nutritional program/lifestyle change turns food into work and that makes it not as much fun...

fat burn (when the program starts cycling fat and sugar calories out and turns the body's metabolism against stored fat) starts next MONDAY!!!!!!!!!! then the fun begins!!!

day one 600 calorie reduction!!! I cannot wait!!!

anyhow that is my rant...

Is 3761 an increase or decrease? That sounds kind of high to me.

I'm at 1800 calories a day right now. Been that way for a while. Down about 40 pounds right now...

increase started at 3122 or so... basically 200 calories per week increase...

it is high but for what it is doing to my metabolism it is worth it.

if i was eating what i wanted when i wanted i wouldn' be anywhere near this number per day...

trick is, i have lost 3 inches and and 5 pounds eating this way

fat burn starts next week (cyclic reduction of fat and sugar calories) then my metabolism kicks in and makes mr. fat cells reel in horror!

So high calorie intake and how much exercise? or just plain eating more(of the right stuff) to weigh less? I would also like to hear more about this diet, sounds like it could work well for myself. Are there any names for it or is it just a purely medical oriented diet?

I've been going between 1900 and 3600 calories a day depending on if it's a rest or workout day. Started 13th of July and as of Oct 13th I'm down 43 pounds. This diet sounds very interesting I would love to get some more insight on it sounds like your doctor knows what he's doing if you've lost 3 inches and 5 pounds by eating 3.7k a day.

Cheers

Steve

I don't get it. If I stopped riding and at 3700 calories, I can't imagine how I'd lose weight.

Is this some kind of bizarro world you live in?

no. it is a de-buked myth about weight loss.

the whole eat less exercise thing isn't the best way...

I have pictures (viewer discretion is advised )

those 3,761 calories are CLEAN and by clean i mean not a lot of sugar or fat. 252g of protein per day...

this is what I eat every day this week

all values are uncooked amounts... (except for beans)

1 cup (uncooked) oatmeal un-salted and very plain
4 servings of EAS Soy Protein mixed in water
5 Tilapa fillets
5 cups of cooked black beans
5 multi vitamins
1 Tbsp or olive oil (used as a emulsifier for protein shakes and my only external source of fat)
1/3 cup (uncooked) rice
32oz black coffee
3oz (uncooked) pasta
1 medium tomato

all this is under 1000mg of sodium and I can fetch gram amounts of sugar and fat and carbs if so desired...

I am basically feeding my metabolism so it doesn't go into starvation mode... everything I put in gets used of excreted never stored... because i am telling my body "there is no need to store any fat! times are good and food is a plenty!"

no next week I get to cycle out fat and sugar calories and it will force my metabolism to go to stored fat for the missing calories... vialo!!! weight loss!

32 oz. of coffee? Damn. I wouldn't be out of the bathroom long enough to eat anything if I drank that much coffee...

I'm glad it's working for you. But, I'd like to hear what a doctor says about it (and not the doctors on that site). I'd also be interested in what they have as a long term maintenance plan. I've seen a lot of diets that have you lose a bunch of weight quickly, but if you vary from the plan at all you gain it all back.

As for...

no. it is a de-buked myth about weight loss.

the whole eat less exercise thing isn't the best way...
Well.... I don't know that I'd say that. I can assure you thousands of people have used that strategy to lose weight and keep it off...

After reading the breakdown it makes sense, I was on a diet much like that one during my first 6 weeks of rebuildng my fitness. Lots of meats and fish, eggs, etc not one for soy (various reasons). Seems to make perfect sense since one needs to rekindle the metabolism after being in hibernation mode for so long.

I've gotten down to 1900 on rest days 3600 on workout days and so far I've lost weight all 14 weeks in a row. I suppose it's true what they say it matters more what you eat then how much sometimes.

yes it matters what you eat...

think of it like this you wouldn't put the same fuel in your pinto as you would a top fuel dragster would you?

and another motto I have heard tossed around...

ever wonder why it is called the FOOD AND DRUG ADMINSTRATION???

food in its basic elements carbs/fats/proteins is very powerful

***edit

oh and you can train a fatbody into good cardio shape... but what we C & A s want to do in change out body composition!!!

I still don't get it...is there any info you can point me to out on the interwebs that explain more about this?

And, why would you have to stop cycling? It seems to me that intense exercise helps boost base metabolism - no?

Your diet looks more like 2500-3000 calories to me.
What is the dry weight of the oatmeal, and the beans.
What is the calorie count on that soy?
Wow, that is a lot of beans.

Tell us more.

my calories are coming directly off the serving size/nutrition label... and I put them all directly into the program, every thing I eat is weighed and measured... it is accurate.

that protein is pretty clean... Precision Fitness makes some that is a whole lot better...

calories per scoop on EAS...

170 calories, total fat 1.5g, 190mg sodium (could be zero), 300mg Potassium, Sugar 17g (could be zero), Protein 20g (could be 29g I think)

You would lose weight alot faster if you actually ate fruits and vegetables... I went from 230 to 150 in about 2 months on my current diet(3k cals of fruits/veg a day) and i did very little exercise during that whole time.

that is great but fruit are too much sugar... just as well drink soda and get some caffeine...

last time I did this program I lost 65 pounds without exercising due to post op on shoulder, I'm pretty sure it works...

it is hard for alot of people to swallow because it goes against the whole starvation diet... "you must burn more calories than you eat"

and currently I'd eat more veggies but they are empty and after eating all that other crap the last thing I want to do is eat more...

too much sugar, comon? Your oatmeal and pasta have a higher glycemic index then most fruits, you shouldn't be afraid of unrefined sugar its your bodys main energy source

really?

fruits have no sugar? really?

well as per my nutritional program I have to be very weary of sugar.

since I have tried every to lose weight basically my whole life and the only thing that has reduced my body fat by 65 pounds was physique transformation

I only post this stuff to inform others, that there is another way.

I have pictures and weigh in records. I'll proof of its effectiveness.

No doubt it works for you, not denying that. You said yourself that this way of eating has become a chore too you, just letting you know it doesn't have to be like that. I never said fruit doesn't contain sugar... The diet your on is essentially what i followed except mine consisted of primarily fruit and i loved every second of it

oh yeah hemprider it is a chore...

and that helps to break the bad eating habits...

eating used to be pleasurable tacos, soda, chocolate basically what I wanted when I wanted ... but lo and behold look where they got me! 24% (current) body fat actually down from probably 35%

I can add 1 tomato (fruit) and blow my sugar out of the water...

I'm only doing this for one reason. to change my body composition. once it is done and i get cleared medicaly next spring I hope to be back in CO and riding everyday without taking my 50 pound fat kid with me everywhere

sorry if I come off a lil harsh sometimes... it is hard to swim against the current

Isin't funny listening to a bunch of clydes talk about food and dieting. I'm not a small guy by any means and have tried numerous diets over the years, and no matter what you say ratedzerohero what you are doing is a diet. I'm glad it works for you but if you've done this before and it worked for you then why are you doing it again? Problem with any diet is it always comes back on because who wants to put that much thought into it? Fruit has sugar, yes but it's way different than what is used in junk food, last time I checked an apple was not processed till it hit my stomach. I to have lost wieght and I'm living proof of just watch what you eat and enjoy something you like once in awhile. I began my journey 3 years ago at 305lbs I'm at 220 now have been for awhile but I've been a bad boy. I would rather just watch what I eat not worry about what I have to eat. Plus 80lbs off and staying off is more important than loosing it fast!

no actually a diet is some reduction in food intake with the hope of losing food. this is a lifestyle change and a way healthier way of eating... notice my meal plan... how much processed food do you see? oh I could make it way more colorful but I don't want to bother with cooking any more than I already do, my whole day is already consumed with consuming food.

I did it 7 years ago. I still drank alcohol still smoked and still made very bad choices in my life. Those 65 pounds I lost then have come and go many times but I only got back up 300 after surgery and not working this last 6 months.

I do. I have made the decision in my life to change how I am. After being a smoker and alcoholic for 25 years I feel as if I have awaken from a dream and all of the sudden the shortfalls and lackadaisical choices I have made don't look or sound good to me anymore. I am willing to do whatever it takes to achieve my goals. After moving to CO last year and seeing all the cyclist I knew what I wanted to do. This forum has been a tool in that decision. THE BUCK STOPS HERE. This is where this isn't a diet. This program has a maintenace feature that is more normal eating, still no McDonalds, soda etc etc. What I am doing now is designed specifically to lose BODY FAT.

This is true. But sugar is sugar. It is limited for me to control insulin levels so that my body can process and digest what it is getting.

Im not going to be mean but that is not a lot of weight lost for the time period. That is .5 pounds per week average.

Seems like to me you should be a whole lot more careful about what you eat.

Stop cycling without changing your diet and tell me what happens! Had you told me you lost 180 pounds and kept it off for 3 years I would have been impressed. But like your opening statement said "Isn't funny listening to a bunch of clydes talk about food and dieting."

I've said it before. I am only offering a different opinion that is backed by facts. I was hoping to instill some hope in other people to try to change their diets and take control of what they put in their body.
