Max weight on a trainer?

I am about to buy a Kurt or cycleops trainer and ride it together (...not at the same time!) with my wife. Question: is it OK to use a trainer when the rider is lets say 100+kg? The bike does OK - and I think, if the bike can take daily rides, so does the trainer? I mean, the trainer sort of lifts the frame off the floor isn't it?

no problems at all, i weigh more than that and have no trouble. had mine 4 yrs it is a 1upusa, but i think they are all about the same.

yes, back wheel is up skewers hold wheel off the ground and wheel rubs against the resistance thing

Trainer hold the rear upoff the floor. They do sella little plastic block at Performance and other shops that lifts the front end to even out the bike.. Place front tire in slot of plastic block. Pretty inexpensive, $10'ish on sale.

The trainer will be fine. One suggestion though, don't spend an oodle of money for what amounts to little more than a hamster wheel for people. I bought a cheap Ascent magnetic one and it does just dandy. It attaches to your bike by the rear skewer so the weight of bike and rider is supported where it normally would be. No problems. Oh, make sure your tires are up to max pressure to help prolong their life. Do not use a tire with tread as the knobs will be chewed up in no time at all.

Also, an old phone book works just as well as those plastic blocks if your near a larger city.

I have a basic Minoura mag trainer that is more than 10 years old, and it's always performed perfectly. I've been as high as 100 kg, and my husband has been higher, and we've both used it.
