Any clydes or athenas in the SF East Bay area looking for a riding partner?

This is going to sound like a personals ad, which it is, but I need a partner to keep me motivated.

I started off posting on BF when I was about 225 lb. I started riding often, did a century, a few metrics and dropped to 185. Then my son was born and all hell broke loose. He required/still require a lot of attention due to some issues so I pretty much stopped riding in order to help take care of him and to give my wife a break. Since then, 2 years ago, I've gained all the weight back up to 220. I can't keep up with the bike club guys anymore nor with the BF folks I've met locally. I did do two metrics this year but that's it. I'd love to do at least one century next year and several metrics but the first step is to get back on the bike.

If you live in the East Bay and also need someone to motivate you once in a while, let me know. I hope to see some East Bay clydes and athenas on the road. Happy Holidays!

That does sound like a personal! Don't get too discouraged by the folks on the NorCal board; as a group they're pretty strong riders and regularly do some pretty difficult rides. I'm off the back at some point every time I ride with them, too - but they're good people and are a lot of fun to ride with.

I'm in San Ramon, and ride 4-5 times a week. On Saturdays I'm coaching a TnT group (getting ready for the Spring Solvang century), so Saturdays are out until sometime in March. However, every other weekend I get out on Sunday (heading up Mt. D. in about an hour today). I'm looking to get in lots of saddle time, while doing some intervals and tempo work a couple of times a week to improve my speed and strength. After Solvang, I'm probably going to do some doubles, so that's what I'll be looking to get ready for. If you want long rides, don't mind some climbing, at a reasonable pace you are more than welcome to join me on some of these rides.

BTW, FWIW - I'm currently 5'10" and weigh about 225. I was about 15 pounds lighter when I did the Death Ride. Ramon, BenRidin' and all the rest of the NorCal crew were faster than me, but we all finished, so don't let anyone tell you you weigh too much! IME, the weight holds me back on the climbs, but not so much on flatter parts - on flat rides I can hang with most of the groups around here, except for the fastest hammerheads like those on the House of Pain ride.

Hey JB, TNT helped get me to 185. I did the Marin event in 2007. Great org and I'd like to do it again. Just hard to raise money in this economic climate.

I like riding with the NorCal BFs. They are good people; they even wait for me when I'm lagging behind, which is always. I just don't want to mess up their ride.

I am always looking for folks in the East bay to ride with. I am an uber clyde (over 250) but am pretty strong.
