I couldn't stand to let the thread end with negativity. So, I'll just end by saying that I know I am blessed to be able to do this for these deserving people. Thanks to everyone for your encouragement and support.

Does this thread have *anything* to do with cycling? Apparantly this is just a tacky ruse to solicit money from forum members. I'm requesting this plea for donations be moved to Foo and anyone feeling charitable please donate to legitimate, established charities.

Or, Its an effort from a forum member who has recently gone through a great personal tragedy to turn her grief and anger into something life-affirming and positive.
Please don't tell me how to spend my money.

I write this from my trainer.
I spend 2 hours on it every morning and am now down to 185 lbs.
started at 225 a couple of years ago.
I'm 6'2' tall so i will always be a clyde by volume, if not by weight.

I ride for a local bike shop race team....the long distance division.

there.....cycling content.

Where did they move the "report to Moderator" button? This fellow has been trolling the OP for days.

Your other posts on this topic come off as opposing opinion, maybe even unwelcome opposing opinion. I'm fine with that but these really don't sit well with me. I'm in agreement that part of this forum is to offer a supportive environment for others who are here to try to make their life better by cycling, even if that means we go a bit of-topic from time-to-time.

The OP posted here in hopes that she can get support from her friends here in Clydes/Athenas.

Tacky, in my opinion it is not, for being willing to give her services to those in need in horrific times falls more in the lines of heroism. Rather than chastise her for doing this, it might be best that those who feel they would like to help her do so and those who feel they can't will not do so.

Your request for removal of this thread to Foo has been denied.

Further trolling of this thread will be handled accordingly.

And I concur with Siu, as well, since I originally approved this thread to be posted with her friends here, rather than Charities or Foo.

turtlewoman, I will send you a link to her blog so you can get an idea of the type of medical facilities they have available.

I was in Haiti, in the area hardest-hit by the earthquake, from January 2 (pre earthquake) until January 14 (two days post-earthquake).

Things are tough in Haiti, but not intolerably so. Many, many Haitians are working really hard to ensure the safety of everyone (of any nationality) in the country - whether they need food, water, tents, or whatever. Absolutely, there are some people who are up to no good, and some who are violent. But so many more are busy taking care of not just friends and family, but the entire community around them as well. My sister, Christa Brelsford, was saved by the work of a lot of ordinary folks in Haiti, because that's what they're like: Christa's Angels

And this isn't road. It might serve you well to remember that different communities have different dynamics and customs, and here in C&A, we actualy <GASP>support each other! What a novel concept!

One thing that tweaks my berries is questioning mod and admin actions in public. Because then we are forced to deal with them in public. Having someone question our actions privately is not part of the job I like, but it beats the heck out of doing it in a public way.

Let's all take a deep breath, and let this thread raise awareness as was intended.

If you disagree with the thread's presence, then ignore it instead of bumping it to the top.

Moderators are Community Volunteers (sort of). We recruit them from the membership and they are NOT paid. Now, back to the topic of the thread. If you'd like to discuss staffing any further, I'll be happy to by PM. I'd like to avoid hijacking this thread.

Wow! You guys--and gals, are so great. Thank you for all the support you have given me. I promise to get back to biking--I'm just a little pre-occupied right now. Everything is moving like a whirlwind right now. I'm having a bake sale tomorrow. A friend here has donated some t-shirts that say, "I helped send a nurse to Haiti" and we are going to sell them Saturday at the Flea Market. Another friend who is a singer with a band has offered herself and the band to perform at an event Friday if we can just find someplace to have it. Very frustrating. So you see there's alot going on.
Again, thanks for the support.
