Personal Records (join in and toot your own horn)

My previous best 300k brevet time was 17h 03m. On Saturday I squashed that time with a 15h 11m finish for the Granite Falls 300k with the Seattle Randonneurs. :thumb:

Tom Stormcrowe 03-29-10 11:21 AM

167 miles in 15:42

RedWhiteandRed 03-29-10 11:53 AM

That is impressive.

I am working towards my goal of finishing with the group on my regular Saturday group ride. This past Saturday I made it 40kms before broken spokes forced abandonment - this was my personal record for keeping with the group.

I never said it has to be a good record. Was this the most spokes you've ever broken in one ride?

Two - this weekend.

I resumed road riding a year ago after a 25 year break. Never had any broken spokes back years ago - this is a newish phenom. I do believe that the current technology is much better than the vintage stuff. I have had one broken spoke on my Giant Seek City bike in a year of riding.

Mine would be the same ol PR! 100 miles, 10,000 ft of climbing in 7:10 ride time (7:40 timed event).

Thought I could beat my PR last year but rain and heavy fog on the first half of the ride made sure that didn't happend! Maybe next year!..Oh well, done it 4 times and once on a a similar ride in the reverse direction.:thumb:

After the rain and fog cleared, about 9,500 ft of climbing, still smiling!:D

2 hours off, pretty darn good!:thumb: Was it the same 300k on the previous PR?

Different course, different challenges. Previous 300k had nearly 9000' of climbing, but very little wind and easy navigation.
This course had closer to 5000' of climbing, 50k with insane head/cross winds, and 25k on the MUP after dark so we had to be careful of root heaves and other trail users. The last course had lots of long gradual climbs, but this one had a few half to one milers at > 12%.
The 300k coming up on Saturday will be a whole new challenge: Only 1 real climb on the ride. 25 miles long, and 4200' climbing Mt. Baker. The summit is the 100k control.

I had three flats on one fifty-mile ride. Does that count?

DX-MAN 03-30-10 03:35 PM

OK, I won't be posting any mileage or speed tallies like that, since you all seem to roll skinny tires and I roll fat, but the local MUP is a fun little out-n-back that my firends and I have used for years as our annual 'big ride'. Depending on whether or not we include the extension that goes to the next town, the route can either be 32 miles, or 46 with the add-on. (This doesn't include the 2 each way from my house to the start of the route, which we always ride, as well.)

Our best for the 46 was 3:38.

My PR for the 32 is 1:49:30.

Both of these were done on my Dakar XLT, my main riding buddy rides an Epic.

Beats my record for flats: 3 in 200k. By extrapolation, you would have had another 4 flats by the end of that ride.

youcoming 03-31-10 01:07 PM

210km in 7:43 ride time 9:05 total. My riding partner liked really long breaks, kinda drove me nuts, can't remember total climbing

Herbie53 03-31-10 07:16 PM

Did my after work, play in traffic, ride around town TT in a bit under an hour (20.2 miles). :D

Tried all last year to do this, and failed.. this was my first effort this year!!! Hooray for suffering on the trainer all winter.:twitchy:

ride data here....
Garmin data

hammond9705 03-31-10 07:44 PM

573 miles in March. Not a record, but most I have done since last summer.

MrClyde 04-01-10 08:24 AM

If I count the tandem, I now own 4 bikes. This doesn't count the bikes for wife and kids. 15 months ago, the only bike I ever owned was a Wal-Mart mountain bike from about 1995. So owning 4 bikes is a personal record for me!

So I must be better at spending money than at pedaling.

Now I need a hardtail, a TT bike, a fixed gear,.....

Mr Danw 04-01-10 08:33 AM

Went for a nice ride on the O&E Towpath with my wife. No record, but we stopped for smoothies and had a very nice time.

I can mount a 35mm film slide in a glass mount in 10 seconds repeatedly for dozens of slides
