Whoo Hoo!!!! Good Job !!! that is also my goal, but I've hit a bit of a backslide due to all the birthday parties this week. I was up again on Monday, but I'm knocking it back down, the cool thing is my fatter days are now the same weight as my thinner days were about a month ago... so I'll take it. Slow going for sure.

Got invisalign Friday -so hoping that cuts down on my eating, So goal this week-Do not gain and lose if I can! I am speniing weekend visitng family and also travelling a ton for work - so it's a tough time..but I hope to be on track! Also started weening down on the Diet Cokes - which helps me feel better about my health and hopefully impact frequency of migraines. Tomorrow: Wake up and hit the gym! That would be a step in the right direction. |
Week 1: 215.5
Week 2: 211.5 Week 3: 210.5 Week 4: 209.5 Week 5: 209.0 Week 6: 211.0 Week 7: 208.0 Week 8: 204.5 Feeling awesome, and today is my long ride and a double header in corporate softball. I'm hoping next week i'll be around 200. Fingers crossed! I'm still obese, and will still be obese for the BMI until im 185 pounds. 154 pounds and I'm normal weight. I'm thinking of getting those body fat pinching calipers because I was told in high school it would be impossible for me to get to 160 pounds do to my bone mass. So according to the BMI, I will be forever overweight! |
That's the thing about BMI. It doesn't take build into account. They try to allow for it by giving ridiculously large ranges - for me, they say "normal" is from 129 to 174. And I suppose if anyone could arrive at an "ideal" weight for me, it would be within that range, though I think near the top. I'm shooting for 165. I know if I were 129, everyone, my doctor included, would think I was on my death bed or that I'd just been released from Buchenwald.
I guess the system works as well as any other system that's designed to include everyone in the world. ;) |

I guess the system works as well as any other system that's designed to include everyone in the world. ;) Insurance companies compare you to their coverage area average, if your at the average you pay the lowest rates, much higher or lower and you pay more, if you do belong to an outlier group (for example unusually high bone density or very large muscle mass) then they can establish company rules to determine a more accurate rate, providing the person fights them on it. Depending on the companies business though, it may be as simple as asking for a better rate, due to medical exceptions, it may also require doctors reports though, which could cost more then the difference you get in the rate. I don't know you personally, but a lot of people think they would look like an end stage AIDS or cancer patient if they were at the lower end of their normal BMI, but it's because we have become so acclimatized to there being so many obese people around, and since obesity usually runs in families -- I think it's generally a learned response, this is why you see the fat kids with the fat parents, guess where they learned about food, yeah, exactly. |
