Optimal Mileage for Weight Loss or Maintenance?
Do you notice a mileage total where you lose or maintain weight? After about 3 years of riding, I find that 300-350 miles per month is where I lose/maintain weight (without modifying my diet). I also find that rides of around 1.5 hours (25-27 miles) works best for me. I often ride longer than that, but 1.5 hours is a good target.
On the flip side, when I drop below 250 miles/month I seem to gain weight. When I do more than 400 miles a month, I feel overly fatigued. I think my sweet spot is around 375 miles a month.
