Gina and Clyde TomBunn doing 5,000 ft of climbing...Both first timers!

Sunday 11/14...Gina's first time riding to the village. TomBunn of SOCal also completed the ride, also his first time making the 5,000 ft gain. Gina struggled but made it but Tom, wow, the dude never looked beat. You come a long way baby! Both of you's! I got lots of pics and posting them all cause the first time to the village is something to be proud of. 42 miles with 5,000 ft. JanB also did GMR but she was so far ahead that I forgot she was there haha. HerbM and Hillbasher also joined us and rode like pros with us GMR newbs.

You and your troop (including the lovely Gina) always impress me, Mr. Beanz. Congrats to all on the climb, that was very impressive! There is a chance that I may be working in Phoenix sometime in the not-too-distant future. If that does indeed take place, then I think perhaps a weekend trip to your neck of the woods and a group ride up (and down) the GMR would be in order.

That would be fun! I must say Gina really worked on this one. At the top she said she'd never do it again. Half way down, she said maybe someday. At the bottom, she said yeah, she'd do it again!.... maybe she said that cause its supposed to rain next weekend.

TomBunn did great. The guys is on heart meds ( I don't knwo too much) but last time it was not a pleasant experience 5 miles up. This time, the dude rode the 20 mile climb like a champ!

Good for both of them. A few months ago, as I was making my first trip to the village with Annette and others, we ran into Tom at the shed after he had made it to the GRR fork for the first time. He was totally stoked that day--he must feel even better now.

Cool! I was with him on 3 attempt to the shack, made it the last time we rode together. He did tell me he made across part of GRR and yes, was stoked. I think he's really happy now. He was happy at the 2 mile point when he passed another rider (in the video)

Has anybody watched this video? Hope the music is working, appreciate it if you'd let me know. Last vid should have worked but didn't work for the pulic eventhough it worked for me.

Job well done! I remember the first time I conquered a big climb like that, it's a well deserved feeling of accomplishment.

Awesome Job! I've been riding up to the village once a week now but not GMR. Mine is supposedly steeper but GMR is long. Great job Gina. Beanz, you're an animal on the climbs and I doubt this climb was very challenging to you.

You're correct! Heck, even if Gina never does it again or quits cycling today, atleast she has done a monumental ride according to many cyclists. Not being a super cyclist, climber, competitve rider, it's a historic event in our book! Tom is different. I'm betting he'll attack it many more times in the future now that he's conquered the mountain!....but I think Gina will be back!

Nice job! Baldy is teep right after the tunnels. Haha, I like to think I'm an animal but when I ride with Gina holding down the pace, the huffing and puffing in the video tells me otherwise! But it's all good!
