Aside from the 5k, my only exercise has been a couple of 1 mile walks and eating too much seasonal food. I did put in 5 miles on the stationary bikes at the gym and start up my lifting routine again after the 5k yesterday.

My exercise this week is going to be lifting at my gym, walking, and possibly running* another 5k on Sunday. I might sneak in a bike ride if I have time and the desire to be buffeted by the cold winds.

OK Finally back here. I figure if The Historian can come on back and check in...I better do so as well.

Glad you are back o check in, Neil!

As for me: New Job, New PCs...so not hoping on the forum much. I will check in and hopefully start next weeks thread Monday morning. Might as well get some momentum for the new year!

No change in the past week or so... Still hovering @ 205.

I know it's a plateau, or it's cause I'm building muscle... or something.

I need patience. And I need it now.

Hey, better hovering than gaining, like me. I'm completely in the toilet right now.

Interesting topic for a thread - how motivating it is to exercise with a friend. One reason I fell off track in late 2008 is that my regular riding partners were no longer available, and my buddy Dennis left the gym I went to. Bautieri is 90 minutes from me and too strong for me to ride with, and JAGraham is on the other side of PA. My meeting Sayre and our becoming friends has been the kick-start I needed. Fortunately he's nice enough to 'ride down' to my level.

1st post in the biggest loser threads. I guess it's time to get serious about losing the weight.

12/01/2010 235 lbs
12/08/2010 230 lbs

The goal is to ride the 2011 one-day STP (mid July) at a weight somewhere significantly under 200 lbs.

It's clear I've lost weight. I thought I looked horrible in the August vacation photos. Since I'm 285 now I must have been over 300 when I rode with thestoutdog around PA's largest lake.

No official weigh in this week (hovering at about 91kg - almost there), but all of the guys in my training group were commenting at how much weight I've lost when we all met up for the annual Peak TT.

  1. 3 weekly spin classes (M-W-TH)
  2. 1 P90X style workout
  3. 2 weekly Rep Reebok sessions (TH-SA)
  4. 1-2 weekly moderate effort rides. (2hr/session)
As the weather improves, I will increase time on the road, but for now my gym workouts fill the need for aerobic activity.
