For a minute there I was thinking: what is this facebook? Oh then I see the motivation factor. . .

Supper hasn't happened yet, but I did have 1 1/2c cheerios with a sprinkle of Grape Nuts, Skim Milk and an apple earlier today.

I think because it's the girl's birthday that means CiCis. When we go there we always get a no cheese veggie (all of them including pineapple). We ran the nutritional analysis on it and it comes out to just a tad over 600 calories for the whole thing. . . half is 300.

The trick is to avoid calorie dense foods like cookies, crackers, granola, nuts*, ect. And the easiest way to do that is to have eaten something better for you before you get really hungry. More often than not the hungrier people get the more they reach for high fat / high sugar foods. I mean it's tough to down carrot sticks when one's stomach is growling and the brain is screamin' for calories.

If you have a training schedule, there's no reason not to have an eating schedule.

I'm a big proponent of writing things down. Not for the purposes of "counting" but just get in the habit of writing down and most importantly: to really think and KNOW what you're eating and what's in it.

* yeah yeah, we've all heard about essential fats and omega 3's and things like that. But it doesn't mean that pecans don't have 200 calories per ounce-- around 6 times that of chicken breast (skinless, boneless of course). Just be careful.

While it's not the most interesting "meal" (yeah, it deserves to be in quotes; just wait), I've found the tastiest (to me) option for my current objective of dropping a bunch of pounds to make race weight by CX season in the fall.
Breakfast is my usual of a banana and an english muffin or bagel and a cup of coffee.
Lunch is my replacement meal, and I'm knocking back IsoPure Zero Carb. 210 calories, 50g of protein, and 50% of a whole bunch of vitamins (per RDA guidelines.) I mix it with a teaspoon of Citrucel because high protein alone can be a bit *ahem* binding.
If I'm riding home, I'll snack on a piece of fruit before I leave work.
Then I eat whatever my regular dinner is that night.

I've dropped 6 pounds from when I really got serious, and 13 pounds from my post-surgical max of 262. (Although half of that 13 was probably water retention from the meds I was on.)

Dinner was a couple of burritos (beef, cheese, onions, olives, lettuce, hot sauce).
Should have waited to eat until *after* hitting the gym for some roller time.

Today for lunch, with all the ice outside, it was very nice to enjoy a hot bowl of duck and andouille gumbo, cooked all morning long* by my wife. While maybe not yet quite equalling what's found at Prejean's in Lafayette (Louisiana), yummm!!!! nonetheless ...not to mention cheaper and about 85 icy miles closer.

* The aroma in the house was incredible!

Duck and andouille gumbo.... mmmm.... There's an adouille shop across the parking lot from my office. You can't imagine the smell when they're smoking... LA residents should get spotted 20 pounds just for having to smell the food.
I'm still wondering what monkfish is though.

Tonight was a roast beef sandwich, w/ lettuce, tomato, and a bit of mayo...

They're just like other fish 'cept they have a small bald spot and tend to be reclusive.

Yep. I deserved that...

PS I stopped being lazy and googled monkfish. Jeez. And I thought we ate some weird seafood here in Louisiana!
