HI! Thought I would drop in. I like the feel of this forum vs some o fthe road forums where saving a gram or two is paramount. Well, a gram or two is what Im trying to shave, but not off equipment, off the motor.

I live outside Tampa, in sunny, but right now cold, Florida. I have the good fortune to live 2 miles from the Suncoast Trail so that's a great thing.

Until recently I have been humping a Trek 3700 MTB up and down the trail and frankly, its a pain. I've wanted a true road bike for a while and just bought a 2006 or so Specialized Allez Sport (triple). I cant wait to get it out on the trail! It's been about 50 degrees and rainy for the last week, naturally, since I have a new bike.

I used to do 15 miles loops, at about 13mph, taking me about 45 minutes to an hour, and just running my new toy around the block, I can tell I'm going to eat up a lot more pavement!

So that's me, in a nutshell, a large 270lb nutshell. I'll put out some "THANKS!" in advance, since Im sure I'll have a lot of questions as I go slong.

I have a 2006 Trek 3700 as well. My fork blew out and changed it to a rigid with a Surly 1x1 fork.

The new bike sounds awesome.

Welcome and congrats! I have the Spec. Roubaix. My borother-in-law has the Allez. He loves it. The Roubaix is my first Spec. Bike and I have never had an issue - big fan of Specialized.

You have learned the first lesson of bike forum
n+1 where n = the number of bicycles you have and 1 = the numerical equivalent of the bike you just purchased.

The next rule is: a < b where a=the cost of Bicycle n and b=the cost of bicycle n+1

Absolutley, I've been pretty inconsistant posting on these forums though Ive been around for about a year now, always something to talk about and keep you intrested in staying in the saddle.

I think I have that one down. Even used the Allez was more than the Trek was a few years ago. But I can also see that from my research. I know my next bike, in a year or so will not be cheap. I have a thing for gadgets and cool stuff. I would love to have a Felt or Orbea.
