My battle with hunger....I'm winning

I've been fighting hunger since I started riding in Sept of 2010. Night time is the worst. I've tried everything I could think of including just riding more and more in an attempt to out ride too many calories. Nothing worked.

I bought a book about endurance athletes and in the back it had sample diets from championship athletes. One food jumped out at me as it appeared over and over again.

Oatmeal.

I've added it for breakfast and a 3:00 ish snack. I'm rarely hungry, off a tough plateau, and eating much less in the evenings. It's inexpensive, easy to prepare, and does not require a refrigerated ingredient (I mix with water).

I think bran flakes mixed with Fiber One works like you're saying. I do snack on Fiber One sometimes in the afternoon.

Same here. A little fiber helps me stay full between meals or especially late at night.

Yup, oatmeal is a winner. Just don't try to substitute oatmeal muffins or cookies. They don't have the same effect.

oatmeal is definitely the best I've found for this. Adding a few nuts, such as almonds, also helps as the added fat helps to satiate hunger as well.

https://www.bodybuilding.com/store/opt/oatsandwhey.html

Mix this in a blender with an 1/8cup of NON-INSTANT oatmeal that is pulverized. Add Skim milk and frozen fruit.

Best 2nd breakfast ever.

I too struggle with hunger. My morning is Cereal with skim milk, Shake, 3 eggwhites with salsa and cheese and toast. That usually gets me to work. BTW thats about 1000 calories and mostly carbs which is good.

I have a snack at 10, lunch at noon, snack at 3 and something small around 5 when I leave to ride home.

As for nighttime hunger try this: https://www.bodybuilding.com/store/mhp/pro.html

I have used both of these protiens. They are both great. The ONs is good for morning and afternoon the MHP is a 12 hour protein feed that turns into a gel in your gut. This helps you get through the night and rebuild your muscle.

Any of these can be thrown into a blender with fruit or other nice things to make a smoothie. Its a great dessert and the flavors are great.

The chocolate is the best and the vanilla is a bit watery. If you are new to proteins take my advice and stay away from weird flavors like rocky road or something like that. Stick with Chocolate and Vanilla.

Also protein can/will cause stomach upset, gas, bloating, and sometimes nausea. This will go away after a couple of days when your body acclimates to it.

WARNING: Please consult a doctor before using these products. Which is common sense.

I have hated Oatmeal all my life. I do like Malt O Meal though and helps with the hunger pains.
