New bike, crappy weather

I got a new Salsa Vaya today. I got to ride it around the block at the bike store. But we have rain and a chance for hail so I cant ride it today:notamused:. It was a sweet ride for a block though:).

Congrats, sorry about the weather. Hopefully tomorrow, I had to wait a week when I got my new bike due to weather.

I know how you feel. We were spoiled by perfect weather for quite a while, now we're being punished with cold, miserable, rainy garbage:mad: Wind 23 mph gusting to 41 mph, no end in sight. Right when my weight loss was starting to accelerate. Figures. I'm not into the whole trainer thing and I don't even own one, so I'm antsy!

I ride year round. However there was a time when I bought my touring bike (early December) that the weather did not cooperate. I had to wait until I could get fenders before I took it out into the slop ;-).

I live in a neighborhood full of very old, tall trees. For me it becomes a safety issue when the wind is gusting 30-40 mph or higher. I've seen plenty of crushed cars and even a destroyed house due to these trees toppling in storms. I wouldn't stand a chance if one of those big branches fell on me.

Other than that, I ride year round too.

My new bike arrived January 28th. I was able to take it out for the first time March 16th and was not sure I should have then. We still have sand and salt on the roads from the winter so being a new bike I have been hesitant to take it out.
