250lb on a Lapierre Carbon???

About to buy a lapierre Sensium but have slight concern about their user manual stating the max weight of 100kg.
I'm 115kg (about 250lb) and it'll be my first Carbon. Always ridden alu or steel in the past.

The Shimano R500 wheels on it seem to get a good reivew for being heavy but strong.#
Worried about the rear triange on the frame as it has a sight curved profile on the seat stays.
Am I worried about nothing or should I look elsewhere?

Here's a linky of the bike: https://www.culturevelo.com/SENSIUM-100

You should be fine on that bike. While the R500's may have a reputation for being strong I'd still take them to a good wheel builder and have the wheels retensioned after you put a couple hundred miles on them. You should be fine after that.

I doubt you'll have any problems with the frame, but... if you do have problems what does the warranty say? Will you be stuck with a broken frame and no recourse because you're over the stated weight limit? For 1700 Euros, I would think you should be able to buy a carbon bike without a stated weight limit...

I agree with storkel on this one. while weight limits are pretty much in place for manf to cover their ass I'd want to know exactly what the warranty says.

Lapierre warranty has a limit of 100kg for all bikes.. even the full suspension mountain bikes so they're definitely covering their ass.

I'm getting the bike at a very big discount (about 550 off the price).

Wheels can be cheaply replaced so they're not the concern.
Just dont have enough experience with carbon to know if I'm worrying about nothing?

I've read many "sucky wheel" threads on this model too. Many riders sell them one ebay then upgrade to a better wheel. I myself would get every mile out to of them then upgrade to a Deep V.

You're worrying about nothing. As already stated, your wheels will be the only concern. Wear the wheels that come with it out then get something better. Don't forget to retension the OEM wheels after you get a couple hundred miles on them. Properly built and tensioned, I bet they last a lot longer than you think they will.

Most of the time weight limits are lawyer speak to cover the manufacturers a$$. However it would be nice to know what the warranty states.
