Stealing Barrettscv's Thread Idea - 2011 100 mile/month challenge - April

Barrettscv posted a "The 2011 500 mile/month challenge". I'm not up for the 500 miles in a month yet so I figured I would without shame steal his idea and make a 100 mile version. I'll probably get that next month so I'll make a few other threads for 150, 200. I figure us that are "just getting back into the saddle" could use a few mile challenges that are appropriate for where we are now and give us an opportunity to graduate from. I'm thinking something like 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 400, etc. For now I'll start the 100 and 150 and if someone wants to do one that fits them then go for it.

A few rules I'd like to propose....
1 - Join up on one but only one. If you are aiming for 150 and you do 120 you don't meet the 100 mile challenge. No consolation prize, just aim for one and beat it death. If you don't make it, adjust for next month. Sound ok?

2 - Make a post regularly with where you are so we can cheer for you and/or send someone over to hold your kitten hostage if you are slacking off.

3 - That's about it I think.

Remember Rule #2 that involves the kitten. If that doesn't focus you up nothing will.

Oh, wow. I'm in. In fact, I've already met April's requirement, and then some.

I typically do about 450 miles per month lately. Last year, 500 mi/mo was a little too much; I met the goal a few times, but didn't hike or paddle my kayak as much as I wanted to, to chase down those miles. A slightly relaxed goal sounds like a good idea.

Funny - I was just thinking about last year's challenge, too.

I'm at 103 for month so far. Do I stop now to be a member of 100/month thread, or do I wait till someone starts the 200/month thread? Suppose to pick up 50 with The Historian this Saturday; but looking at your numbers Neil, I think you better hope for tail winds...both ways. Just saying.

I have confidence I can do this. I'd not have scheduled and planned it otherwise.

If you think that you will be in a higher mileage club that nobody has started, start one!

Nice job, Big Bird. If you anticipate being above 100 miles next month make a 150 Mile/Month Challenge thread for you and others to do.
