When a "Ride" is in town

I had known last year of the existence of an annual "Ride" that is held in my home town, though I don't recall having seen so many of the cyclists in previous years.

In Kerrville there is basically one "Ride" and that is the Easter Hill Country Tour.

I'm not in it this year since I'm working my last week of nigh shift.

With routes that are 20-100 miles in length the cyclists roll through the Texas Hill Country area with a slowly greening spring all around them.

I saw the first of the riders on my drive home after a meeting Thursday morning. They were crossing the Guadalupe via Francisco Lemos street and then turning west on Thompson, taking some winding hills that offer some good views of the valley. I haven't biked it, yet, but know the road and know that it can present some great views.

This morning I had to swing down to Camp Verde to drop something off on my way home from work and started spotting small clumps of cyclists as they made their way through various routes on my way out and back.

Made me really, really wish I wasn't working. Oh well. Next year.

I live on one of Pennsylvania's marked bike routes, and several annual or club rides go by my front windows. A lot of bike tourists too, since Adventure Cycling Association uses it the road as part of its Atlantic Coast Route.
