My Wife Finally Got a Bike!

After a few weeks of debating options, I finally convinced my wife into a decent bike - She was all set to pull the trigger at wally world, and a bike. After a few trips to the LBS and talking to some others, she finally found her bike today that she really liked. A Raleigh Route 4.0. We also got an avenir child trailer for our 2 year old twins - who loved the test ride.

I am looking forward to the family rides. I may even look into a comfort style bike for short cruises around the neighborhood or local bike trails. Her bike sure is comfortable compared to my trek road bike.

I guess me pursuing an active lifestyle once again is positively affecting those around me. :thumb:

Congratulations on your new life style and it is great to hear loved ones are joining. My wife has tried some but she just can't get into riding. Any time she does any activity she ends up hurting so bad the next day and she complains I go to fast which is not true. When I ride with her I slow up for her.

What seems slow to you may still be too fast for her. Let her set the pace and keep it short at first - as little as 20 minutes to start with. Also make sure her bike fits her properly.

+1 on letting her set the pace. best to follow her if she'll lead and you just let her do what she can and wants. when she's done you can call it a warmup and finish your ride. I do this with my son all the time.

Congrats to your wife on getting a bike. Mu wife is wanting to get one also so we can ride together. Should be fun. :-)

That's great news! I've found riding with my husband to be really fun. Since neither of us had ridden in quite a while, we're both at about the same fitness level (read: he's not wanting to climb mountains while I tool along on the on flats). With that said, cycling should be fun, so have fun exploring different trails and rides together, and don't leave her in the dust. :)

Congrats! It took a bit of coaxing to get my wife on a bike--until I found one she liked and she found out how fun and constructive it was to ride together. Now she rides her little Bad Boy everyday. Wentake turns leading when wenride together, but I let her set the pace.
