New bike advice

Any sugestions for a new bike for a 6' 330lb 63 yr old. Currently ride a 7speed Schwinn beach cruiser from walmart but it's not very comfortable.
Any opinions will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Tony

What kind of riding do you expect to do? Mostly roads? Roads mixed with some trails?

My husband wanted a bike for mostly paved trails, but also some hardpacked dirt trails, so he looked at hybrids. He's close to your size, and he test rode and liked both the Specialized Crosstrail and the Giant Roam 1. We both got Giant Roams because we liked how they rode, and they offered more upgraded components for a more competitive price than some others. We've been very happy with them.

While I don't regard big box bikes as good bikes they can tell you what type of bike you might like better. I find that most cruisers and seniors clash at the seat post not setting back enough to put their feet down or giving them room to pedal. If this is the concern then look into a "set back" seat post to make the cruiser more ridable before you invest $$$$$$$$ in a new bike.

I would suggest heading to your LBS and testing as many as you can and ask as many questions as you can think to be important. It helped me to write them down before I went because I have a tendency to get like a kid in a toy store and forget what I came for.

Thanks all for the advice. Think i'll look for a setback seat post and continue to ride the cruiser while visiting lbs and determining what my perfered riding style will be.
